There is a dimmer function that is part of the keyboard on most notebooks. You use the Fn key and some other key (Mine is F1 and F1) Look for what looks like Sun in blue print on the key. You should find 2 of them. One will be the brightness up and the other brightness down. You can try those.

More likely, something has come loose internally.
1. It could be the backlight for the screen is broken or a connection loose. You should be able to see the light when you look at the side of the display.
2. The AC power connector may have been broken and the notebook is only on battery power. By default most systems are dimmer when on battery power. Check to see if your charge indicator light is on. If not, that may be the problem.
