Question about Velodyne SPL-800 Subwoofer

1 Answer

Hello, Problem with a velodyne SPL 800R : It's a 110 volts model with a third party external power converter 220/110 (France). It was working perfectly until I move the power converter, and create a bad contact between the velodyne's outlet and the alimentation. Result : no sound from the source on the line level input. The Velodyne is on, I can interact with the remote control, the auto-equalizer works (there is sound) . What can be the problem ?

But how is it possible in this case that I can still power on the sub, and generate sound for the auto eq fonction ?

Re: create a bad contact between the velodyne\'s outlet and the alimentation.

Unit is 110V, if moving the power converter you gave a 220V shock, then the unit internal components are fried. The sub must be taken apart to test components, you have probably connected and grounded to 220V, then not only power board in the sub, but also more parts of the circuit, like the sound input may have gone.

First part to test is the converter, to ensure that is still providing 110V. Tests with power on must be done by a trained person.

that is because PSU and final are working, probably even preamp is fine, while input line has blown. If you want to repair it, then you are probably lucky, a blown final or PSU in such an amp is not worth repairing, and a trouble in preamp is difficult to troubleshoot. first test is done on input testing that there is continuity between different parts of the circuit. This is done setting multimeter on Ohms and ensuring that circuit is closed.Test is done with no power connected.

Before that, ensure that the problem is not simply no input because source wire or connector is bad, or because connected source is malfunctioning, test the unit connecting to different devices.

How to convert 220 volts to 110 volts for the iPod Touch

The battery of an iPod Touch prepared for use in the United States is designed to be reloaded from the current supplied by a 110-volt electrical system. Power is transmitted to the battery charger with an iPod battery, which are connected via a USB cable and then connected to a 110 volt outlet. To use the power of a 220 volt outlet with an iPod Touch, set the current 220 volts to 110 volts. A conversion adapter voltage, also known as "Step Down Transformer," it is necessary and can be obtained from an electronics store, a hardware store and even some drug stores.

1. I have a electric dryer Model WED5810SW0 THAT I WAS TOLD I COULD CONVERT TO 120V from 240v is this true and if so how do i do this?

If you consider doing this the first thing is SHUT THE MAIN BREAKER OFF. Use an auxiliary light source to see when working in a dead panel. Always keep in mind an ARC FLASH ACROSS HOT MAINS HAS ENOUGH HEAT TO PEAL THE SKIN OFF OF YOU. Before an explanation of how to do it you should keep in mind that this is for a single receptacle only. If any other receptacles are on the same circuit they will also be changed to 240 volt receptacles and if you plug any 120 volt device into them, the 120 volt device will be destroyed. That said OK, any 120 volt outlet can be changed to 240 volt by removing the 120 volt circuits neutral, re identifying the white wire with red or black phase tape and connecting it to a new 2 pole 15 amp breaker. The maximum that this circuit will now load up to is, on #14 wire at 80% = 12 amps at 240 volts. The 120V receptacle must be changed to a 15A - 240V receptacle so that 120 volt devices can not be plugged into it. Never use 2 single pole breakers together because code requires that on a fault trip both legs of the 240V circuit must be disconnected simultaneously. Our 2-way converters are voltage transformers that convert power from both 220 to 110 volts and 110 to 220 volts. They also work with 100 volts, 110 volts, 120 volts, 220 volts and 240 volts. Washing machine w/ 110v plug in to 220v

DON'T!

Never plug a 110 volt anything into a 220 volt supply and never plug a 220 volt anything into a 110 volt supply. They are just not designed to do so. Their electronic's power supply and their motors are specifically for the specific voltages. Changing the plug at the end does absolutely nothing.
I just hope I have got to you in time!!!

I want to know if this tv in countries where they have 220 volts energy power need a transformer from 110 to 220? or if it is incorporated automatic or if there is a switch to change

Hello, thanks for the oppertunity to help.

Yes, rest assured you will need a down conversion from 220 to 110 with just about anything. you can purchase these 220 to 110 V converters from just about any eletronics shop.

Throwing a switch on the back of anything at @@V does not grentee it will WORK. specailly if it was made for 110V.

Save some money on repairs purchase this converter for $13 bucks you be glad you did.

Purchase it HERE

I bougth reciprocating saw, model BJR 182Z and circle saw, BSS611Z while I was in the U.S.A.These tools use the 18 volt LXT Lithium-Ion battery BL 1830. I also bought this battery. However I am going to use...

Why can't you buy the 230 volt DC18RA charger in europe (amazon.europe country) and use it. I had the same issue yet i burned out the fuse in the 110 volt DC18RA charger because i plugged it into the wall just using an adaptor. Lesson learned. Therefore, my first solution was that i bought a converter from 220V-to 110 Volt. This showed me that my charger was done. So instead of getting another 110 volt charger sent here to Europe from Canada, I returned the converter and have on order a 230 volt input DC18RA charger from amazon.de which has the same 7.2-18V output. I have been told this will work yet the fear, and I don't know why, is that it will burn out the batteries in a year or so. It is difficult getting specific information from Makita, but I hope it all works out. Best of Luck for you

A 220 volt Amstrad monitor that i want to convert to use 110 volt

engagetek, This would be a very easy thing to do if and only if the label on the rear of the unit has printing similar to my GATEWAY LCD. It states as follows: "100 - 240VAC input 50/60hz." If your Amstrad unit's label reads "220-240VAC 50/60hz only, then you will need to reverse engineer the "ac to dc" power supply, be it an old "linear" or a modern "switch-mode-power-supply" type. You did not state what type of monitor technology your Amstrad is. CRT, LCD, Plasma,???? I would guess that it is a CRT type. Well anyway, I hope the info was of some use. HP laptops power supply

Well, as a rule for electronics:
The United States and Canada use 110-volt electricity.
Most countries outside North America use 220-volt electricity.
Unless your appliance is dual voltage, you need to use a "converter" or a "transformer" to change the 220-volt electricity into 110-volt electricity in order to use a 110-volt appliance.
If your appliance is dual voltage, you can switch it to work on 220-volts, without a transformer or converter.

HOWEVER

Desktop units have a selector switch for 110 / 220 volts., which is done away with in the case of laptop one's which sense the input voltage and regulate accordingly.

I think your main concern is just that you have an adapter for the plug to go into the wall outlet.

Hope that helps :)
