Question about Apple iPod touch

1 Answer

When I attach my iPod Touch to my Mac PowerBook G4, and open iTunes to download a rented movie to the iPod, I don't see the device displayed on iTunes. I can't drag any content onto the iPod, and I get the error massage: OxE8000001. How can I get around this?

Trying another port (I was connected directly to the laptop) did the trick. Strange, I'd used the USB port that I usually use.
    Thanks for this simple fix.

Error OxE8000001 means USB connection fault. I remember seeing this happening with my iphone when I connected via the USB hub. Try to connect it directly to the Macbook. If that doesn't work try a different port .If problem persists, then turn off the ipod while its still connected to the macbook. Then put it in recovery mode(Please see attached video).
Then try restoring the ipod software to an earlier version to see if does the trick.
PS: ALL THE CONTENTS of the Ipod will be lost when you do a software restore. So make sure you have all your stuff backed up before you try this.

How to unlock the restrictions of iTunes rentals & keep iTunes movies...

As a free and open digital media player application for both Mac and PC, iTunes is one of the biggest online digital stores around the world denoting itself to organizing and playing digital music and videos. As an iTunes movies ******, general speaking, you have possessed thousands of iTunes purchases and rental as well as you actually know that rented movies is much cheaper than the same one purchased from iTunes. Therefore, if you are intend to have a look of some iTunes movies rather than storing for collection, the iTunes rentals as the same quality as purchased ones could be the better choice to meet your entertainment, which costs less and saves your money.

However, you should keep these restrictions of rented iTunes movies in mind clearly. The rentals you purchased legally froe iTunes store could be kept longer than 30 days in iTunes library, more worse, it shuts the door on watching the iTunes movies more than 24 hours (in the US) or 48 hours (in other countries) once you start playing. There are some special requirements about devices for playing iTunes that the version of iTunes 10 or later is required for both Mac and PC. And if you prefer to rent the iTunes movies on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, please make sure that those iOS devices are running at iOS 3.1.3 or later. Besides, the rented movies can only exist on one device at a time. In other word, if you want to play them on any other devices, you need to transfer movies every time in advance.

As is mentioned above, there are lots of restrictions in iTunes rentals that iTunes movies will disappear automatically when the time is due. With the intention of getting rid of these limitation and enjoy these rented movies more convenient, we need to remove FairPlay DRM protection from iTunes movies legally with a smart third-party software, called DRmare http://www.drmare.com/m4v-converter-for-win/. Here, there is a tutorial on how to strip M4V DRM restriction and keep iTunes rentals forever.
Step 1. Import rented iTunes movie files to DRM removal tool
Launch iTunes Rentals Converter firstly, click "+" button on the bottom left and then the iTunes library will turn up automatically. Then you can browse and choose iTunes movie rentals in the drop down panel. Besides, you are also allowed to import the movies via drag-and-drop action.
Step 2. Choose the output format and directory
Make sure that you have finished to importing rented movies from iTunes library, click "Format" button to set the output format that supported by your devices according to your needs. Then, you can choose to customize audio tracks and subtitles or specific ones by clicking the "gear" option in each column.
Step 3. Begin to remove DRM from iTunes M4V rentals
Click the "Convert" button at the button right of the main interface and it will start to convert your iTunes rentals to DRM-free MP4 or other formats that you set before. Please wait for a moment, you'll get the DRM-free movie files so that you can play them on any device without any limitation and keep them forever.

I have the latest iPod Touch and an old G4 Mac how do i update iTunes on Mac? Is this possible?

I am afraid the latest iTunes version will not run in your G4, also it is not possible to upgrade your G4 to one of the supporting operating system versions.

Macintosh System Requirements

  • Mac computer with an Intel Core processor
  • OS X version 10.6.8 or later
  • 400MB of available disk space
  • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes

It says can not sync ipod(-53) What does this mean..how to fix

Hi, message saying "can not sync" means that the connection from the ipod to the computer was not successful..
If you sync your iPod with a different/empty library iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from the iPod to the computer and everything else on it will be erased. You'll find details on transferring purchases in this article: iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer

Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store

If you want to recover the music from CDs etc that is on the iPod and transfer it to your new computer there are a few things you can do. music from CDs etc.) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.

A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

One last thing, you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok before connecting your device.

Once you have recovered everything from the iPod and your iTunes library has been rebuilt it will be safe to sync again.

Trouble downloading songs from G-3 I phone to powerbook g4

font.f1 {font: 12.0px Helvetica} Thanks for asking your question with Fixya Support. I will be glad to assist you.

If you are experiencing issues with downloading songs from iPhone 3G to your Powerbook G4, there are a few steps you need to check:
Make sure your Mac OS X operating system version is up to date. The most current updates for the current 3 most common Mac OS systems out today: Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger: Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Current version) Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Current version) Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: Mac OS X 10.6.6 (Current version)
If your present version of Mac OS X does not match the current version update listed above for your system, then click on the Apple menu icon in the upper left corner of your screen and select "About this Mac" to verify. • Then close that window and click on the Apple menu icon once again and select Software Updates andrun the updates.
• Once your Mac OS X has been updated to the most current version, then you will need to visit the link below, then download and install the current version iTunes Link: Download iTunes 10 for Mac (for 10.5 Leopard or higher) Link: Download iTunes 9.2.1 for Mac (for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger or earlier)
• When you have the current version of iTunes on your Powerbook, then commence to connect your iPhone 3G with your Powerbook and sync your iPhone with iTunes.
I am providing these initial steps to you, due to the limited information I have from you regarding your technical issue, but will be glad to assist you further, if you are unable to resolve your issue with these provided steps.
I hope this helps.
