> I am not comfortable on Windows 7

Toshiba designed the computer to work with Windows 7,
i.e., they wrote Windows 7 device-drivers for the Toshiba-specific hardware (video/audio/network). So, if such device-drivers exist for Windows XP, then only Toshiba's web-site will have them.

Also, note that Microsoft's "Product Lifecycle Policy" ended mainstream support for Windows XP on 14/04/2009, but "extended" support still is available, i.e., XP is swiftly heading to its "sunset".

Similarly, "extended" support for Microsoft Office XP will end on 12/07/2011, i.e., less than one year from now, and "extended" support for Microsoft Office 2003 will end on 08/04/2014.

In fact, after October 22, 2010, retail stores will not be allowed to sell Windows Vista.

So, if you want a supported operating system until 13/01/2015, then it's time to upgrade from 2001's "new" operating system to Windows 7.

Bite the bullet, and re-install Windows 7; you will soon be finding that any "new" software being announced will _NOT_ be supported under Windows XP.

You seem to have been duped with a PIRATED OPERATING SYSTEM sir and there is no magic key program that will active your laptop if the COA STICKER KEY on the bottom of the laptop does not work you will need to buy a legit version of Windows to install and activate. Searching the operating system on the laptop now WILL NOT produce a valid key! Check Ebay for "retail boxes" of Windows and there are good bargains to find there for Windows 7.

unfortunately, it looks as though you can only do so if you upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, as any of the lesser versions (Starter, Home Premium, or Professional) do not have support for the Multilingual User Interface (Language Pack).

I recently purchased a Toshiba L645 with windows home premium 64 bit OS. I want to restore it to factory settings so I can get rid of the previous owners name, files, etc... I made the recovery discs for...

For a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit, you would need a disk for the specific operating system. In other words, you would need to go to Best Buy or what not to purchase an Operating System. Recovery disks are only used by Windows in the event of a catastrophic failure, with a pre-existing OS.

I hope this helps!

Can not install windows 7

if you are doing an upgrade from windows vista to windows 7 check first the version of your vista operating system, for example if you are using windows vista home premium 32 bit then the windows 7 CD that you need is windows 7 home premium 32 bit also, cant mix any versions or types of bit. it should be always the same. try also to download the windows upgrade advisory run it and check for programs and applications that you installed or pre-installed in your computer that cant affect the installation, remove those programs and applications that are not compatible with windows 7. just install those back again after.

if you are doing a clean installation of the windows 7
check first if the system requirements for windows 7 installation is applicable to the specification of your computer. if your system is capable the bqack up your files and go ahead with the installation

i hope this helps
Pls rate my resolution thanks!!
