Question about Coffee Makers & Espresso Machines

1 Answer

Sunbeam cafe series EM6910. Brand new out of box, turned on followed all instructions to run for first time but when we press the manual button to perform first flush a lot of noise but no water comes out. We have checked for blockages, we have checked that water is being released from water container at inlet etc. All is in order but seems pump must not be working. Any suggestions. It was such a disappointment to turn it on and have this happen.

Oh, OK, thought there was something simple we could do! It has full warranty and was won in a Gloria Jean competition with a brand new still in box Sunbeam Conical Grinder. Luckily we did not grind the coffee first, tho packed separately.

Since it's a brand new unit then all defects it has are covered by the warranty. Do not try to fix yourself, you will lose the warranty if it's tampered with - take it back ASAP.

Bring it back in its full package, otherwise they might charge you for it.

Sunbeam em6910 leaking steam

Pull the steam dial off (there's nothing holding it on apart from friction). Unscrew the small screw in the middle of the plastic holder, and adjust the position of the copper steam tap using pliers to turn the steam fully off. When reattach the plastic cover and then the dial. The dial will now have the correct range to turn the steam off.

Service manual

Perform a full descale. Take out the water reservoir and remove the Anti-calc filter. Put in 500ml (1 pint) water with 3-4 tablespoons of white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar). Put the water canister back in, the turn on the machine and press the manual button. Allow half of the liquid to go through, then stop. Leave the machine for about ten minutes, and then run the rest through. Empty the water reservoir and rinse, put back the Anti-Calc filter, put in another 500ml and press the manual button to flush it all through.

Sunbeam cafe series EM 6910 coffee machine little red light keeps flashing

That's the low water warning, triggered by a black float with a magnet inside, in the water container.

The magnet inside the float in the water tank loses its magnetism with age.

Buy a replacement on eBay for a few bucks.

You cannot repair it, but the machine will continue to work fine without it - you just won't get a signal when your water is about to run out.
