Question about Brother MultiFunction Center MFC-440CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have been having a great bit of productivity fun using my Brother MFC-440CN until yesterday, when the magenta decided to completely stop flowing. I have fresh carts installed, run several cleaning cycles (I'm afraid I may burn the thing up in the process), and the black, cyan, and yellow work perfectly. Magenta doesn't even spit out a drop of blood on the page. NOTHING. The cart is fresh and full. I have been using the printer within the last week and totally amazed at how good things were going. I am paralyzed without the full colors. Printer has been very well taken care of, used to print docs even just to keep the heads clean and "wet," and simple, basic use. I feel like this is nothing more than a disposable razor now, but I hate to give up on it just yet. HOOOOOOW does one get back to the high quality printing that was so exciting to me just days ago, but now falling off the cliff? (Brother website says I need to call a CSR and go from there. I'm hesitant to pay for a terminal holding call only to be told "take it to a shop and pay X amount of dollars more.") Thanks for any help. Randy

please find above, your service and repair manual. This should help you remedy your issue. below is your user manual.

Now often these printers will NOT work without ORIGINAL cart's also some don't like refilled.. What can happen though, is the ink often drys in the lines, themselves, and these can be cleaned out, with water, sometimes the actual print head is blocked, again this must be cleaned before it will work.
have a look at these posts, below, they have pertinent info about this all.

Magenta cartridge full, no printing

Yes the printhead is the problem, it runs around $90.00 now, and no amount of cleaning ever restores these printheads. No need for the alcohol tho, these inks are all water soluble.

Brother MFC 440CN pick up wheels only work about

take q tip and dip in alcohol with printer off clean paper wheels let dry completely. Your printer should be okay then. Make sure you do not drip any alcohol inside the printer and that the printer is off and unplugged.

No magenta

do you use generic ink? If yes, use an original brother ink cart! Because of the additives within the brother ink, cleaning substances will keep the ph clean.

If you still have trouble please post again here

Mfc 665-cw magenta clogged?

Do you use some very cheap generik ink?

If your ink wont match the specifications of the needed one clogging is the result.

If you have tried several cleaning there is unfurtunately nothing more what you can do: the ph is dead (for mag).
