Don't know if you've solved this problem, but I was having the same issue using Windows 7, 64bit. It had been working but Explorer crashed & Explorer restarted, it recognized the device, but I couldn't access the files. I tried it on another laptop & it worked. So I left it plugged in & restarted the computer and that fixed the problem. If that doesn't work, you may have to uninstall the driver that windows automatically installed for it & then plug it back in & have windows reinstall the driver. Good luck.

During the start up you'll have the choice of VideoStudio Editor or Movie Wizard click the 16:9 ckeck box at the bottom then click VideoStudio Editor.
New window will open click Capture, now look for capture video button on the right side of the black screen, click it
Just to the right you will see an Options button click. A drop down will show, look to see if input source is in dark letters,if so open and set source to NTSC/M and composite video is checked.
If the input source is greyed out, open Capture properties directly under the input source,a new box will open click properties a new box will open this box will have 3-4 tabs you only need the first tab called Image tab under video sources click ntsc/m and composite video click ok click ok again thats it you should now have video,After any restart you will need to reset ulead up again, you should be good to go...... you can try opening it with paperclip if it's stuck. Straighten the clip
and locate a small pinhole on the drive it and insert the clip in. You
might need to push the paperclip in an out a few times to eject the
Sometimes when a flash memory stick or USB external hard drive fails because it was not removed from the USB port properly. If the device is removed by just pulling it out of the USB port, it can cause the flash device to fail, you must click on the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the Task Bar and select the device you wish to remove and only do so when instructed to do so. When the flash memory USB hard drive device appears to malfunction it maybe possible to restore it by reformatting it. Insert the flash or USB hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management. Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Healthy. You need to format the flash or external drive. Format the drive as primary drive and in FAT32. (FAT32 will allow data to be exchanged between MACs and PCs) also between XP/Vista and earlier versions of Windows. Insert the flash or external hard drive into the USB port then Click on Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management. Then right click on Disk 1 removable drive and click Format. After the flash drive has been formatted it will indicate that it is Health.
The recording are saved in c:\gv250 if you have just C driver and then you browse to folder for specific recording. If you have multiple hard drive you can check from Geovision Main system software setting to figure out here the recording are stored. Easy way to do that is stop all monitoring in main systems and then press F9 for systems configuration and go to storage settting. There you will see path for saved recording.
You can also view your previous recording right from GV main screen by just pressing F10 key and then select the date and time you wanna watch recording for.
Did you install the driver for the remote control? In either case, the video will automatically start playing on your computer but not recording. You can just click on the record icon without using the remote. It sets up a folder under your Documents. It should then show you the icon so you can name the file.
I am having the same issue with the sound though. Haven't yet solved it. Will post the solution if found
Try unplugging the DVC90 and uninstalling it from Device Manager. Then go to the Control Panel and delete all the drivers you find. Reboot and try the installation again. If I remember correctly you can run PCLUSB2.exe first to get the drivers on your hard drive and then plug the device in. When you do that just point the driver install to the folder that the drivers got installed to.
