Question about Mobile Rack SNT-125 SATA Plastic for serial ATA HDD (without extension front ports) Drive Case

1 Answer

Its not a problem to begin? I just want to buy 1 rack like for a SATA III 6 gbps Hard Drive. Will it affect the Hard Drive Speed, reducing it to 3gbps? Or is it just a Rack to support the Hard Drive and Power it. Please confirm me. Thanks

    Can you please take a look at this picture please Guru (zoom the picture of the rack when open). I never had one, this is why asking a lot. The small electronic board, this is what I am afraid, which may lower my speed. Or is it just the electronic board for Power Supply, Fan and SATA Port.
    If it is confirmed that it is not a board for controlling the Hard Drive, then I can buy it. Means the board inside is just for SATA Port, Power SUpply, etc…

As long as the connector and build quality is good, a rack should work fine.
If the connectors are shoddy, or the fit of the connectors isn't good, then you will have speed issues, or even outright failures.

What are the specification of PS4 HDD?

  1. There are some of the specifications that you can look for to get a Hard Disk Drive is as follows -
  • 2.5-inch form factor.
  • 9.5mm thick or less.
  • Interfaced with Serial ATA (SATA) only.
  • Hard drive's type doesn't matter.
  • Speed also doesn't matter.
You can also get the detailed knowledge on the specifications that you must follow and other details through one of the best site that I've been using since last year to get all the details on latest updates, and many more from PS4 hard drive.

I would like to get a HDD with more memory.

You can buy 80GB or 160GB, nothing is incompatible with Hard Disk, unless you buy another kind of Hard Disk like a new one SATA or check your Motherboard, it tells there what kind of HDD you put it in. There are two HDD that you can buy in the market one is IDE type & SATA.

What replacement soiled state hard drive for WD1200BEVS-22LATO

Examine the interface specifications for the what the HD is connected to. Most 120 MD SSD's are backwards compatible with SATA-150. Usually the specification with say SATA-II (3MB transfer speed) or SATA-III (6MB transfer speed). A SATA-III SSD will work on a SATA-II connecction.

Please tell me if I can install this SSD drive in my Acer Aspire V3-771G laptop. What is the difference between SSD SATA II and III

A sata 3 SSD on a sata 2 PC will slow down slightly to sata 2 speeds, and vice versa. But this is usually acceptable since any current model SSD is much much faster than a normal hard drive so even installing a slower model SSD will be a big improvement. Its analogous to a porsche 911 and a volkswagen beetle. The 911 is faster than the beetle but both are much faster than horses.

your laptop has a normal hard drive. Most SSD's except apple SSD's are the same size and have the same connectors so 99% of the time it will work. you can see pictures of the SSD and compare it with your current hard drive

Upgrade hard drives on 670

There is a 2TB limit with MBR (Master Boot Record), but even a larger drive can be partitioned. So a single 4TB (biggest on the market) drive will look like several drives.
External drives that are bigger than 4TB are really several physical drives combined by an array.

RAID 1 requires optional SCSI drives, cables, and even software?

Add on SATA 3 cards to PCI are not a good idea if you are looking for speed. They just bottlenecks the throughput.

Hitachi H3D10003272S, 3GB/S or 6GB/S ?

That hard drive has a Sata II (3b/s) interface so you won't get any extra performance from a Sata III (6b/s) port, but it will still run, but it will run as Sata II (3b/s).

Any it should be 3gb not 3gB
b = bit
B = byte
byte = 8 bits

So you would think that a 3gb/s would operate at 375MB/s but manufacturers advertise everything as 10bits = 1 byte so you have to take the speed or even hard drive size and multiple by .8 to get the actual speed 375 * .8 = 300MB actual speed.

I have a GT4016 Gateway Desktop. I want to purchase a 2Terra Internal Hard Drive. Would this be a Sata or Pata Drive

If the computer is already open its easy to tell if you have SATA or PATA capabilites. Most modern computers have SATA and maybe one PATA. An SATA plug looks like a sideways L. The PATA ports have a couple rows of pins and require a cable ribbon. If you have both kinds of ports you should go with the SATA because this has a much higher bandwith (1.5 Gbps I think)

How can i connect a seagate barracuda hard drive to a sony vaio desktop pcv-rz22g? i'm installing an a additional hard drive but can't seem to find a sata connector on the motherboard, so there's no way...

You can't find a SATA connector because there isn't one. That computer was built before SATA drives were widely available. You will need a Serial ATA controller PCI card to connect your SATA drive to your computer, such as here:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1455&name=Serial-ATA-Controllers&
Make sure it is a PCI card and NOT a PCI-Express (or PCI-e) card, as your computer doesn't have any PCI-Express slots either. Here's an example of what you need:
http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3501402&CatId=1455

Also, the Barracuda is probably a 3.0 Gbps drive, but will only run at the slower 1.5 Gbps speeds from the PCI interface cards. Again, it's an age thing. That computer was a top dog in it's day.

M7NCD ULTRA raid drivers

If the SATA drive is operating in 3.0 Gbps mode and your motherboard can only support 1.5 Gbps mode, the drive will not be detected in BIOS or XP. Try jumpering the drive to SATA 1.5 Gbps mode. The label on your hard drive should indicate which pins should be shorted to achieve this setting; if not, look up your particular model on WD's website to find the manual.

Motherboard

Most of the new systems and motherboards support SATA connectors onboard. In your case there is none as you have found. So the best option is always upgrading to a new motherboard in case you need to add more SATA drives. You can also try to find SATA add-on cards, may a little costly types. These cards use PCI interface and very easy to install but hard to find one. I hpoe you could find one from a hardware store near you. If your motherboard has ordinary PCI slots then the SATA adpter will be less costly, otherwise (if it features a PCI-X slot) it will be costly. Following is a simple description on what the market has to offer: SATA II - 150 4Ports PCI-X with NCQ, Raid 0+1, Raid 0 and Raid 1 ! You can upgrade your desktop computer to have four Channels Serial ATA Generation 1 and Generation 2 transfer rate of 1.5 Gbps. The board provides a 64bit, 133 MHz PCI interface on the host side and four, fully compliant Serial ATA ports on the device side to access Serial ATA storage devices such as hard disk drive, ZIP drive, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM. Note: Fault tolerance: RAID 0 (Striping), RAID 1 (Mirroring), RAID 0+1 (mirrored-stripping) and RAID 1+S (Mirrored-Sparing) improve the data performance and provide the data redundancy and rebuilding.
