Question about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6800W Washer

1 Answer

I am at wit's end. Purchased GE front loaders last summer but returned to lowes when tearing up clothes. So replaced with Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6800WW1 this spring and doing the same thing, plus often clothes not cleaned or wet even when on heavy soil cycle. I want to replace again, with maybe old agitator type but not many to pick from at Lowes without energy saver. In the meantime I am washing shirts in laundry bags which makes them even less likely to get clean. Any suggestions on how to either fix cabrio or which washers to get available at Lowes that will NOT have these problems (on the larger capacity side)? I'm more than willing to go back to the old agitator!! Time is running out for me. I am so frustrated, have never had these problems with new appliances before in my life. Stores claim we're crazy but when researching on line, I find I am not alone.

Is this always/usually the problem that causes the tearing of clothes? Do you mean Roper would do the repair? Who else would? Or is it a lost cause between clothes tearing and not getting clothes clean? Would you recommend going back to old agitator or trying the silicone? If I try to repair, Lowes may not trade them back in for old agitators.

You are definately not alone. There has been alot of new machines doing this. There is a space between the rubber seal that the clothes catch on. You can always try and silicone it. Roper is your best bet.

I mean if you are going to get another machine from Lowes, make sure it is a roper brand. From many years of appliance experience, they are the best!

The rubber seal in yours in the main and usual culprit!

Stinky clothes

you should run a empty load with bleach but no detergent every month or so to clean the washer, I also recommend cleaning the boot (door gasket) every couple of loads with windex or other cleaner. also every load check inside the bottom of the boot and make sure the drain holes (x3) are clear of lint, etc. this is normal maintenance for any front loader. GE is a very good brand and is my preferred brand, I repair appliances everyday, Whirlpool keeps me busy. I have GE front loaders in my house.
2nd poster, you will need a door hinge for this most likely. Not too hard.

Allergic to detergent for front loaders

I have always used regular Tide powder in mine and my kids use Tide liquid in it. You just need to use about half as much. My man is a motor head so he gets DIRTY and I have three teens so I wash a lot of very dirty clothes. My clothes get very clean and I have never purchased the "special" Detergent.

I have had my Duet for three years.

It is possible that the dispenser is leaking. It is typically the left front dispenser, you may notice a puddle on the left side. ???
