The USB connectors have to be replaced. you can get this job done on *********** board at the equipped service centre.
I recomend this because the use of a good desoldering is most important so as not to damage the motherboard when removing the USB connector.

Xbox 360 - Stuck or sticking tray fix!

If your Xbox 360 DVD drive won’t eject it can be a very simple fix.

The Samsung drive is almost always a very simple fix, if you have another drive, it may be more difficult.

To identify your drive, follow this guide:

• Remove the faceplate by firmly grasping the opening for the USB ports and pulling.
• Underneath the DVD tray there should be a small hole.
• Look at the wires in the hole to identify which drive type you have.

Red and Black Wires = Samsung Drive
Yellow Wires = LiteOn Drive
White Wires = BenQ Drive
No Wires = Hitachi Drive

SAMSUNG:

It is very common for a Samsung drive to not eject. It’s a very simple fix for this!

1. Power on your Xbox 360
2. Press the eject button
3. When the Xbox 360 “tries” to eject, just simply push in on the tray cover.

That should make it eject!

If it does not, please follow the guide for the other drives below:

This requires you to disassemble your Xbox 360. IF you don’t know how, look it up on google, there are plenty of guides.

Then follow these steps:

1. Remove your Xbox 360 DVD drive from the Xbox 360
2. Turn over and remove the four screws securing the drive (6 screws if it’s a Hitachi)
3. Remove the top cover of the DVD drive.
4. Put the drive back in the Xbox 360, connect the wires, and power on your Xbox 360.
5. Once the 360 powers on, eject the drive. Most of the time it should eject normally. If it doesn’t you may have to force it.
6. Unplug the Xbox 360. If you turn it off with the power button the tray will close first, we need it open.
7. Near the front of the drive, you should now be able to see and access a small rubber band that was hidden by the tray.
8. Remove the band, lubricate and replace.
9. Replace the top cover and hook up and test.
10. If that doesn’t work, you may need a new rubber band. If you can get one of the right size, replace and test.

Instal in XP

Hello, This external hard drive does not need a driver, even in XP. If you're using a desktop, don't connect it to the usb ports in front of your CPU case, instead, connect the usb at the back USB ports, if this doesn't work, try using a shorter USB cable and connect it again at the back.

Possible your hard-drive has gone to a better place.
If you have a spare laptop HDD, try swapping it first. It obviously will not boot into Windows, but it may at least let you format and install from a USB stick.

Orange ring

Okay here are a few ways that might fix the Xbox 360.
  1. Turn off the Xbox 360, wait 5 minutes, plug it back in and see if the error is gone.
  2. Unplug both the AV (audio and video) cables and the power cables from the Xbox 360 and wall. Wait a few minutes, and replug everything in and see if the error is gone.
  3. Take your hard drive out of the Xbox 360 and start the console and see if the error is gone. If the error is gone, turn the Xbox 360 back off and replace the hard drive. Then check if the error is once again gone.
If none of the above steps worked, then your going to have to spend some money to get your Xbox 360 back and running.
  1. If your warranty hasn't expired, then you can send it to Microsoft and they will fix it for free.
  2. If your warranty has expired, then you can still send it to Microsoft, but it will cost you about $150.
  3. If you don't want to spend the 150 you can spend a little bit of money and buy a guide to replacing it yourself on Ebay and such. If you do try and do it yourself remember that once you open the Xbox 360 the warranty voids, so if you still have a warranty send it to Microsoft.
Hope this helps!

Xbox 360 will not read certain disks, some work, some dont...???

Hi,

this sounds like a gpu fault, or a laser read fault.
i,d return it to M$ for a replacement again, or alternatively look for a good 360 repair specialist in your area. you need the rrod kit, or a relacement dvd drive. i,d think more on the line of dvd laser if your getting no red-rings. don,t waste your money on a laser replacement, 9 times out of 10 they don,t work. go for a new drive, and have the drives logic board swapped.
you can find out about this on xbox forums, and tutorials.

My xbox 360 disk draw keeps opening and wont let me play games?

My problem was the magnet that is supposed to be in the black rotator that the DVD is placed had come out and was sticking to the top of the DVD drive lid... I opened up the XBOX 360 by removing the hard drive on the top first then on the sides of the XBOS you will notice air holes but if you look closer looking from the front of the box on the right hand side you will notice there are more holes then the left and side. I will try to put everything in steps and hope you understand them

1 - Removed the hard drive from the top
2 - Starting from the back pushing a pen in the side holes on the right hand side to unclip the Gray cover
3 - Do the same on the bottom to remove that Gray cover as well.
4 - Unclip the front white face cover and remove it
5 - you will see 4 cover clips on the front holding both side of the case together "unclip them BUT don’t force apart" there is more on the back
6 - Unclip the back by pushing the pen point in all the 7 small holes in the back THEN you can pull the cases apart
7 - Remove 6 long screws from the bottom then take the othe side of, Unplug the cables from the back of the DVD drive and lift it out away from the XBOX
8 - Unscrew the 4 side screws of the DVD drive and take the top cover off.
9 - Take the magnet of the top cover from the white plastic
10 - Use some very good adhesive glue on the black rotator wheel (not to much) wait for the glue to part dry for 3 or so minutes then place the magnet in where it belongs
11 - Leave overnight to dry (don’t try and hurry the glue or you will be doing this again.
-- ** now revers all the steps from 6 till 1 to put everything back together ** --
Mine is fixed now and I hope this worked for you (I did get it working sometimes by just keep opening and closing the draw) but this fixed it for good and now all is working well again
