Question about Coleman Mach III Air Conditioner

1 Answer

My coleman mach air conditioner won't turn off by the controller. I have to turn the circuit breaker off to get it to stay off. The controller works with the heater just fine. What could this be?

Sounds like the contactor that controls the compressor and fan is sticking. You will have to remove the top cover to get to it. It will probably be in a box after you remove the cover. Turn the power off and see if it is still pulled in. If you can get it unstuck then it may work, otherwise you will need a new one.

I opened the box to find the contactor but all I could find was a cluster of 3 capacitors. Didn't look like anything else mechanical in there. Any other suggestions of what the contactor would look like.

    Thanks

Coleman mach rv ac unit tripping breaker

If it trips the circuit breaker as soon as you turn the FAN on, suspect either a bad fan motor or a failed fan motor start capacitor. If you are able to turn the fan on but the circuit breaker trips as soon as the COMPRESSOR starts, it is possible that the compressor is seized.
If, on the other hand, the unit is tripping a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) breaker or GFCI utility outlet, it is possible that neutral and hot are reversed at the outlet into which the trailer is plugged (happened to me this year at an RV park).

My coleman Mach Rv air conditioner with built in heat strip keeps tripping it's internal circuit breaker when running for any length of time. Just replaced heat strip with new one experienced same issue. I...

There should be an overload protection device in series with the low voltage wiring(t-stat wiring) Is it resting on the heat strip or too close to it? It is a saftey device to shut off the heat strips if the fan quits or a fire in the heat strip section. check that or by pass it, if it stays running then ur thermal protector is bad, couple bucks at the parts house.

Here's a link to a service manual, with step by step tests to determine whats wrong. I'm thinking compressor shot, but this should confirm, and or help you determine for yourself. Be careful with those capacitors eh !! Read warning in service manual.

Coleman Mach 3 ac unit tries to start compressor & kicks off

50 foot extention cord not a problem IF it is at least 10 gauge and plugged in to a 20 amp circuit

Your compressor is shutting down for a lack of AC voltage would be my best guess

Coleman Mach 15 AC just quit. no compressor sound, no fan

If this is a ducted unit, check the thermostat. It has a fuse for protection that may have blown. If the fuse is fine and you have power to the upper units control box, check for 120V incoming power at the control box and also check for incoming 12V on the Yellow and GH wires when tstat is set to high cool.

Hope this helps.

Did you plug upper unit (on roof) into lower control unit (inside). Not to insult you, because i've done it myself, in a rush situation. Breaker on? Sure you didn't mix up any wiring?
