Refrigerator Water Leak from opening under Freezer

Hi, we have a Kenmore Coldspot Top Freezer refrigerator, model# 72852101. It has been leaking water from the two openings under the freezer for a while. The freezer is working fine, but now the refrigerator is no longer cold nor cooling. How expensive is to repair this? Sears wants to sell me a $250 warranty for a year to include fixing it. Or I can do the $65 dollar estimate then parts and labor fees. Is this problem an easy fix for a regular repair guy? Is it under $250? Close to $250? Is it time for a new fridge? Its only 6 years old. Is this something I can fix? I really just want to make the right choice once given some fair solutions. I appreciate any and all information.

Thanks In Advance

Same product and EXACT same problem (water is running out of the styrofoam covered holes located between the freezer compartment and the refrigerator.) The fridge and freezer still work okay....but I expect they may stop working at any moment due to the increasing problem w/ the leak!

Easy fix my man. couple of possibilities: 1) the fresh food gets cold air from the freezer via the vents where the water has been coming out. the water has frozen up in the vents and is blocking the airflow. the reason the water was coming out in the first place is a slow drain. open up the evaporator cover inside the freezer. get all the ice out of there and clear the drain. a little bleach will kill the gunk that made the drain flow slowly.
2) you have a defrost issue and the coil is loaded up with frost causing no airflow to the fresh food section. check the defrost heater limit and timer. none of these repairs should be over 150. but thats in lawton ok. if you live in L.A. or NYC get the wty.

I have a Kenmore Coldspot Model 106.70182000 that is leaking water from the freezer into the refrigerator. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello,

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain, then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center

Good luck

I hope this helps you to stop that leak,

I have a Kenmore Coldspot ref, model # 78862898. The freezer literally has icicles hanging from the roof of the freezer, frost on food items. The ref isn't as cold as it should be with water...

Sound allot like there is a serious air leak....Is the door sealed good? You also have a defrost drain line plugged up behind the freezer panel you will need to clear that out with hot water after removing all the ice. watch this video to see how to replace the defrost thermosthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-h541_14ZE

Have you tried adjusting the freezer temperature to a higher level? This worked for my Kenmore. It will take a couple of days to quit leaking.

We have a 10 year old Kenmore Coldspot Refrigerator (it looks like model # 590 9990). It is leaking water from the freezer door. We turned off the ice maker to see if that would stop the leak but so far-...

look for all/any drain holes and blow out/syringe with clorine bleach ,then check door seals for any air leaks.water in fridge is mainly condensation from warm food/replacement air when you open door.
