It's becasue of human eye. Eye bottom is red, and when flash fires, camera captures eye bottom
Red eyes function makes pre flash, for pupil to become smaller, but if it is very dark, it is not enought. There is no best solution for eyes not be be red, but shooting techniques can help You or You can try some software after.

Have red eye on pictures and thought it was suppose to get rid of red eye

Red eye reduction is a feature that has to be turned on in the camera settings. It isn't turned on by default. It isn't perfect anyway- you may still get some red-eye. This can be further reduced or removed by editing the pics in a graphics editing program on a computer.

Red eye on sanyo digital camera xacti, always theres a red eye when taking pictures,i already adjusted everything, still occuring red eye.

Do you mean your subject's eyes are showing "redeye"? This is a common problem with cameras that have the flash very close to the lens. Almost every photo editing program has a tool to remove red-eye. Check your computer to see what you have installed. In the future, most cameras have a red-eye flash setting which shoots a short flash before the main flash to close down the pupils in your subjects eyes to eliminate red-eye. You could also turn up the lights in the room...sometimes that helps.

How do you activate red eye reduction in the 5900?

To take photos with red eye reduction requires your flash to firerapidly before snapping the pic. Make sure camera is in record mode pres the 4 way switch with the lightning sign on it. The flash modes will pop up. select red eye flash.

To fix red-eye after a photo is taken. Bring up the photo in playback mode and press menu button. Red eye reduction should be available as one of the menu items. Otherwise, display the pic, press OK button in center and if you like the fixed picture then select yes to store it.

Red Eye

i have a suggestion,

you can use Picasa2 to get rid of the red eye from your pics. however, this is installed on your computer and whenever you will take pictures, there will still be red eye. Picasa2 is very easy to use and you can get rid of the red eye in only matter of seconds.

download Picasa2 here

Red Eye

If the red-eye reduction is turned on, and you can verify that the pre-flash is functioning, you may need to think about shooting technique. With ultra-compact cameras, the flash is necessarily placed close to the lens. This is the worst design possible to avoid red-eye. To reduce red-eye as much as possible, ensure the red-eye reduction system is turned on (and functioning properly), and get close to the subject. I mean "physically" close, not just close by zooming. Use as little zoom as possible. If the subject is small, move closer, without relying on the zoom lens to make the subject appear closer.

Red eye reduction

while in record mode, press the flash/up button repeatedly until you are in red-eye reduction mode. red-eye reduction mode should greatly reduce the problem when enabled. If this does not work, the software that came with your camera (and most photo editing applications) include a red eye reduction/removal filter.

hope this helps,
