My old admiral oven doesn't get to the temperature I want, could it be the oven temperature sensor?

  1. You can do a simple at-home test.
  2. Purchase an inexpensive oven thermometer (the kind that hang from the rack are great but whatever is designed for oven).
  3. Then set your oven on 350 and wait for oven light to go out (indicating it is at temperature). Compare the temperature on the thermometer (it should say 350 but sounds like your results will be less).
  4. If it is not the same temperature you have SOME adjustment that can be made. Most oven temperature control switches have the ability to adjust/calibrate. Depending on make and model you may be able to pull the temperature adjustment knob off and see a screw and a slot. Loosen the set screw and turn the post slightly then re-seat the screw.
  5. Repeat the test on step 3 again and see if you are closer.
  6. If it got worse, loosen screw and turn the other way (and re-test).
  7. If it got better but not quite right, repeat the procedure.
  8. If you are unable to adjust to get the temperature correct you may have a faulty temperature sensor.

Whirlpool Oven will not heat

Hello there:Usually,
when an oven won't bake, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component. When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. bullet.jpg If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. bullet.jpg Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. bullet.jpg Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. bullet.jpg If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.

How to remove the control panel on Whirlpool double oven Model RBD305PDS14

Remove the doors by turning toward you a little toggle apparatus located on each hinge. Locate a small screw on the lower inside edge of the left and right hand trim and then slide off the trim. Remove the lower trim then raise the upper trip and put the left end of the panel inside the top opening. This allows you access to the control panel. Test both the keypad part #8300440 and the control panel part #830219 to see which one needs to be replaced. Order the replacement part, plug it in, reverse the precess above and it should work like new..

Oven door won't close tightly

Sounds like whoever installed your oven hasn't adjusted your door properly and as a result over time probley got worse? any way there should be 3 screws on each hinge the top and bottom screws hold the door in place the screws under the top ones are used for making adjustment with a Philips head screw driver open the door and try screwing in clockwise 2 or 3 full turns and with your free hand feel if the door is moving upward if so repeat the same on the other side and then close the door and see if its made a difference if so and its still loose try again if its made it worse the turn the screws in the opposite direction Let me know if this works

How do i change light bulb for my oven

Here is a simpler method from the same website mentioned in solution #1:
1) Turn off power to the unit
2) Open the lower oven door
3) Remove the side trim screws and pull the trims down and out.
4) Remove 2 screws on the sides of the control panel.
5) Open the Microwave door. Remove the 3 screws on the Air Vent Plastic Cover on top of the microwave. You can then remove the Air Vent Cover by pushing the control panel up and pull out slightly at the bottom.
6) Remove the 4 screws on the Air Vent Plastic Cover on top of the lower oven and remove the Air Vent Cover. (You may have to remove the left under side bracket of the Microwave door temporarily just for the Air Vent Cover to clear the screw of the bracket. Re-secure the side bracket of the Microwave door panel as the front panel may fall)
7) Remove the 2 screws which held the Microwave unit in place behind the Air Vent Cover on step 6.
8) Wiggle the Microwave unit out about half way to expose the light bulb unit on top center
9) Wiring to the Control Panel will prevent you from pulling the Microwave unit out any further. And you don't want to do that as the unit may fall. Space is cramped, but working carefully with pliers you should be able to release the springs which held down the light bulb unit and change the bulb.

By the way, the bulb is Osram 64405S. It's available online for about $2.00 plus shipping.

It is easy to replace.   Turn power off to the oven.    Remove the screws holding the element to the inside of the oven, Carefully pull the element out of the oven liner until you can unplug the wires from the element. Hook up your new element and ease it into place and re-install screws.
