How do you know that you cannot use it? THere is a compatibility mode in windows 7 that lets you use software and programs that might not work with windows 7 outright you can try installing the software and then selecting run in compatibility mode and see if that works. IF that does not work you can try installing a version of windows like xp on the new computer and make it a DUAL BOOT system so that when you want to use it for sewing you can boot to the OS that works. YOu can also contact SINGER and see what plans they have for the software.

SOURCE: I am trying to install

Singer.com's FAQs provide the following:

Q. My computer only has USB ports. Can you recommend a Serial (nine pin) to USB converter cable that will work with the Professional Sew Ware™ 2.00a? A. We have found that the PSW works best on newer computers when the USB serial adapter cable has not only compatible drivers for the Windows operating system but also a FTDI chip. We have found this FTDI chip in the cable which is listed below:
CUSB-232A available from Computerplug.com and Cablesalesusa.com.
Any USB to serial adapter with an FTDI chip will work. These cables will work for Windows XP, VISTA, and 7.

OK, as you found out, you're probably not going to be able to do that until you have purchased the CE-250 upgrade from Singer, its dealers, or possibly eBay. You might think about joining a dedicated FB group like Singer Futura Fans -- they have the installation instructions in their Files section, along with tons of other helpful information.
Bottom line is, you CAN install your Futura software on you Windows 7 or later computer, but it takes a little info. I know--I've done it.

What version of Windows are you using? If it's a newer version (Vista, Windows 7 or 8, etc.) this might help: There is a feature in Windows 7 that allows you to run software made for previous versions of Windows. Go go Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Run software made for previous versions of Windows.

Will I be able to use Futura with Windows 7?

It would be best if you contacted Singer's customer service as what I have been reading, it is not compatible - but changes could have been made.

You may have to resort to a refurbished or used PC with an older version of Windows.

I've read about quite a few people having issues with Vista, so Windows 7 may not be supported yet, you may want to try calling singer or windows or both to see if there is some kind of patch or update
