Question about liftmaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Transmitter 300MC

I installed a Liftmaster 3800 garage door opener, when setting the closure door will not close and the drum unspools the cable. Do I need more spring tension? Or does the door not weigh enough?

My door does the same thing, I could not raise the rear of the track to get a slope on door due to clearance of garage lamp. So i made a bracket to hold a compressed gas shock to push the door the first 10 inches to help it get moving then gravity takes over. Total of 50.00 invested

If you can raise the backhang 3 or 4 inches this will keep tension on the cables. This is a very nice system, however the door must work well for this system to work.

I would also spray WD-40 on the roller shafts, spring and spring shaft bearings.

If you can't solve this, then you may need to have a pro look at it.

Hope this helps,

Steve

My liftmaster will open with the remote but to close the door, we have to hold down the wall unit. It starts to close, jerks to a stop, then we have to press and hole the button and it closes.

Hi, it is probably the safety photo beams out of alignment or not working, when this happens the garage opener goes into 'dead man' operating mode, ie you need to keep the button pressed for the door to operate. SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY NEED A SERVICE TECH.

IF THE CABLES ARE NOT RUNNING PROPERLY ON THE DRUMS IT WILL CAUSE THE PROBLEM YOU DESCRIBE. OR THE DOOR COULD BE CATCHING ON SOMETHING (DOOR JAB, TRIM ETC.) AS IT CLOSES.

I DON'T RECOMEND TRYING TO ADJUST THIS YOUSELF A PRO CAN DO IT IN ABOUT 10 MIN. IF YOU START MAKING ADJUSTMENT WOITHOUT KNOWING EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU WILL PROBABLY JUST MAKE IT WORSE.

THE SERVICE CALL SHOULD BE $ 50.00 - $100.00

ALSO DON'T CALL A HANDYMAN ETC. ONLY A QUALIFIED DOOR REPAIR TECH.

HOPE THIS HELPS

Installed garage door opener and the door opens then closes on its on

The down limit switch could be set to low. Try moving the screw clockwise to raise the stop point.

Garage door will not stay closed. It raises

On the side of the motor unit you will find the 'down limit' control. Turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will probably be necessary.

You can hold the smart/learn button in for 6 seconds and this erases the memory of the logic board. Then you must program your remotes and keypad.
