Question about Fax Machines

Inbound faxes intermittantly issue

Intermittant inbound faxes have lines like barcodes streaked all across the pages. Fax repair guy blames the phone line. AT&T tests the line perfect. Landline phone on the line--the quality is perfect. Unplugged the phone line and the power for 5 minutes...so far we haven't rec'd any more faxes with streaks...but this has been an intermittant issue.

WE HAVE A FAX MACHINE THAT HAS A BLACK LINE GOING DOWN THE PAGE WITH FAX IN AND FAX OUT

For outgoing fax lines, check your scaner rail for any streaks, dirts or similar and clean scaner.
For incoming fax streaks, you can only check your drum unit for lines on surface and replace it, or lines is there because other side has dirt or similar on their scaner.

Hope that helps!

Streaks of black ink down the pages of faxes

Hello.

It might be as simple as changing the ink. If still a problem, the FAX may need cleaning.

Hope this helps.

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

I get lines and can't read the right side of copies that I make with the 1270e. How do I fix this?

You have not specified why you can't read the right side of copies and I am assuming that the reason is because the 'lines' are covering the text. I can offer a solution to the lines issue.

I have a black line showing up on my faxed documents. I have opened it up, changed the film and re- set it, but the problem persists. The machine is about 5 years old.

Make sure the line that you have is a known working one and that the phone cord your using is also known working, If both are o.k then it's quite possible that you have plugged into the wrong jack on the machine.( There's usually 2 on faxes, 1 for a phone line and 1 for the fax line) Not real familiar with this model but most have an option in the settings to be outgoing only or inbound only or can be set for both... not a whole lot more it could be...

Fax allows only 2 pages to be fax from outside

Noisy/faulty phone line could do it causing communication to fail after so many errors (need filter if ASDL), or could be having trouble picking up paper (check by doing multipage copy) or of course it is sending fax prob but I take it you mean customerssss faxssss

Thats about all it can be.
