Question about Mustek DVD & Blu-Ray Players

1 Answer

Half way through a replay picture froze and would not recover. Then all channels vanished. Will not tune any digital channels now. Substituting a Freeview box onto same antenna cable tuned fine so there is plenty of signal present; so no channels, no DVR, nothing!

Left the unit fo 24 hours, reconnected it just as before and did a channel search (scan). Up came all available channels, recorder also appears to be fine. I am utterly mystified as to how a genuine fault condition one day (triple-checked for sanity) can fix itself. Fix double-checked to ensure AOK. Crazy.

Click on the input button on your remote to make sure you have selected the correct location of your incoming signal. If you are just watching TV and have a digital cable adapter, unplug the power to the adapter and plug it back in. If you have pinched a cable running into the TV and are using a DVD player or other device hooked to the TV you may need to try another cable. If you are using red white and yellow wires for connecting a device try removing the yellow wire from both the device and the TV and substituting with another yellow wire from another device. Also make sure you try additional channels if it's just the TV signal. If you have cable you can also unplug power to the cable box to cycle it off and plug it back in.

I don't know how to tune the digital channels in my vcr. I can automatically tune channel 2, 9, 10, etc but not 7mate, 99Go etc

If your unit does not state DVB anywhere, either in the manual, or on the unit itself, and there are no options to tune in digital services via the menu on screen (as well as no EPG), chances are the tuner in it is analogue only, hence why you cannot tune digital channels in it. To receive all SD/HD digital channels, you would need to connect an external set top box to the recorder's AV inputs, and record/view them that way. (Set top boxes are cheaper than upgrading TVs and DVD equipment in many cases).

The only positive point here is it didn't cost you a workshop repair fee or a new unit - the user manual as a pdf for this model is available on FixYa if needed.

My problem is I have a dvd player DMR-ES 15 I live in australia is it possible to tune in the new tv stations example seven 2

It is not possible to tune in 7two, channel 11, GO! or similar digital channels with this model DVD recorder, as its tuner would most likely be analogue only. You would either need to upgrade to a model with a digital tuner built in, or purchase an external set top box, capable of SD and HD digital reception, and connect its AV outputs to the respective inputs of the recorder, in order to record the channels you want.

However, being in OZ, those digital channels are available as free to air - all you would need is the appropriate receiver to enjoy them. I recommend a set top box which offers HD as well as SD.

How do I , or in fact can I, tune the DVD recorder such that it can see the digital TV stations - all I get at the moment is analogue channels

can you receive digital channels through your tv (if it is a DAB TV)? The reason i ask is that you may not have a strong enough signal to receive digital channels. Try taking the dvd recorder to a friends house and plug it in there to see if it will tunethe stations in. IF it does try it back at yoursto see if it will pick up the channels if it breaks up the picture then you need to upgrade your ariel

Toshiba D-VR650KU can't "see" digital channels

On the Notification screen with Cable highlighted I found that left clicking on Cable gave a drop down menu with TV on it for selection. The manual says that while Cable is highlighted, use the up or down arrows to get TV to be an option and then select it and Yes and enter. Hope this helps. I have other problems with my monitor on Line Out, the screen oftens turns blue indicating low or no video using Line 1 or 2 inputs.
