What happens is that the upper post (see the back of the plates; there's a quarter inch wide post) slides into a slot not designed for it (too small). To fix, find the post. Slide a table knife in between the plate and the griddler, and twist. This should un-jam the post and free the plate.

I am rebuilding my clutch how do i put the plates on and what happens if i put them on wrong

If you put them on the wrong way clutch won't push in. It tells you which side faces the flywheel on the clutch plate so should be all OK. Regards Billy

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Clutch cable adjusted too tight.
2. Pressure plate center screw adjusted too tight
3. A broken clutch rod.
4. Slave cylinder piston stuck.

2008 Saturn Aura XE with p225/50r17 tire but tire info plate on B pillar is unreadable. Anyone know what pressure should be? Please don't tell me to read tire side - as most info plates have lower...

All tires have suggested manufacturer tire pressure displayed on tire sidewall along with other seemingly useless information. Tire may display both a minimum and maximum inflation. The 2007 Saturn Aura we have states the pressure to be 35 minimum, and 44 maximum, although ours uses the 18 inch tire. Check the sidewall to be correct.

Manual trans won,t shift 87f150

When there is an issue with a manual gear box not working after a clutch replacement I am always suspicious that the clutch plate has been fitted the wrong way and the crank bolts are fowling on the cluch plate center . If the gear box was fine before and i now faulty I would go to what was done with the clutch. Also check that the clutck slave cylinder is working ok.

Engine off shifts engine on grinds when putting in gear

The clutch plate can only be fitted one way. If you noticed one side of the plate has a raised section that contains springs. The other side is flat. Puting the plate the wrong way round allows the raised section to hit the heads of the flywheel bolts and this is causing the clutch to spin even though you have the foot on the clutch. Make sure you have properly bled the air from the clutch system. Mostly there is a notice printed on the clutch plate which reads like flywheel side or this side away from flywheel

ET200 won't shoot nails. The light works but it doesn't shoot. The chamber is clear of jammed nails HELP!

I had this problem too, and finally figured out what was wrong. If you have cleared a jam and have put the nail gun back together, then all you get is a 'thunk' when you try to drive a brad, you have put it back together wrong, as I did. Take the two screws out and pull out all four pieces -- three plates and one skinny 'T' shaped piece. Look inside the unit and you'll see a pointed piece, which is the hammer that drives the brad in. This next step is key: put the first plate back in (the one that is flat on both sides) making sure that it slides in UNDER the hammer. The hammer fits loosely in its housing, so it may help to turn the nailer upside down so that the hammer falls down, giving you the room you need to get the plate in--again, so that it's UNDER the hammer when you turn the nailer back over. Once you have done this part, simply slide the second piece in (the one with the fluted strip down the middle), slide it in fluted side up, then the 'T' piece (with the 'T' in first) then the last piece with the wider groove that contains the 'T' piece. Replace screws and you're back in business! This information may be in the instructions, but I have long ago thrown those away.

Clutch on grand voyger can the friction plate be put on the wrong way

I guess it CAN. I have taken a look on the net and it appears to be a fairly standard setup. Presuming the pictures I'm looking at are accurate (and I've looked at 3 sites) you would have to be pretty careless to do it. The friction plate is in effect flat on one side, while on the other side the springs in the plate stand proud and have a retaining plate over them. The flat side goes to the flywheel, the protruding side with the springs towards the pressure plate and gearbox. Put it on the wrong way round and I imagine you would crush the spring housing into the flywheel the first time it was used.

You can see a picture here:,r:2,s:0&biw=1280&bih=651

which shows the components in the correct order and facing the right way.

If I can help or clarify further, please leave me a comment here

Smell like burnt rubber in engine compartment on passengers side. 05 plate 2 litre Focus Diesel. Engine runs seemingly happily, no odd noises, no visible warning lights or messages.

I expect that you have an oil leak that is dripping/running on to the exhaust. The burnt oil will smells a bit like rubber. Check for oil leaks that are higher up on the engine. (Valve Cover gasket for example).

I put one the first weight and locked it in i didn't know that you had to put all six and then lock it in. How do i take the one i put on off and start over

You should be able to take off the plates by turning them the opposite direction as putting them on. If you look at the plate you'll see the grooves that lock each one together. You just need to twist the plate you want off and twist it out of the grooves. Once out of the grooves it will turn back to normal, releasing the tension on the bands inside. You can then just slide it off the bar. The perm attached 5# plate tends to turn too. You need that one to be stationary. If you can't do it alone, have someone hold the perm 5# plate steady as you turn 'off' the additional plates.
