There are several things to check. First if you have an external volume control make sure it is plugged in and turned on and up. Another place to check would be the Sounds and Audio Device properties in the control panel. Open it up and you should see five tabs which all have to do with the sound on your computer. Step through each of them and ensure all of your sound devices are working properly and not muted or disabled. Another place to check would be Hardware Device Manager. Click on start and right click on the My Computer icon. Select Properties and then select the Hardware tab. Click on Device Manager and a window will show all hardware associated with the computer. IF a red X or yellow exclaimation point is visible then there is an issue with a driver most likely. The easiest fix is to roll back the driver and if this doesn't work then update the driver. Other than that if they are external speakers make sure the jacks are plugged in and the external power supply is working. Hope this helps

Is there a way to adjust the speaker output volume on a Dennon av 800 without the remote

If you look to the right of the receiver there is a knob that says master volume. Turn the knob in order to change the volume. It shouldn't matter what sound mode you are in.

How do i wire a kenwood amp to two 8in woofers

at low volume any speaker works impedance mismatches wont matter(thats the 4 or 8 ohm resistance speakers have) , but at huge volume you need to consider a crossover circuit in the wired line
or a booster amp that does it for you.
when you have a huge volume level, the coils will feed back (counter emf ) some of that power back into the transistors driving it.
some transistors can die if mismatched badly at power up with high volume level. or disconnect while runnning a load.
depending on the amps design..
hot plugging anything is taking a risk no matter.

How to calculate volume

Each specific solid (shape) that has some regularity has a formula which can be used to calculate its volume. If it has no regularity the calculation will be more complicated.
For a right rectangular prism with dimensions L, W, H the volume is L*W*H. For a right circular cylinder with radius r and height H, the volume is Pi*r^2*H.
Once you know the formula, it is an easy matter to use the calculator to evaluate the volume.

Does the size of the speaker affect its quality?

In older versions there were an effect of the size on the quality and volume, the bigger the speaker the better the quality and volume. Nowadays, the size of the speaker doesn't really matters what matters is the brand and the technology used to assemble the speaker.

My philips srp5107wm/17 only changes the volume on my tv no matter what device i have it set on

The Philips remote is set to "push trough" the volume/mute to the TV for devices that typically don't have a volume function. Older versions of Philips remote used to allow you to select the device to push volume to, but for some reason this is no longer available (or at least I haven't found out how to). So here is the solution I used.

Teach (learning function) the remote to use whatever device you like for volume/mute.

1, Press the button for the device you would like to change
2. Hold down "learn" and the button you want to teach ex. "volume up" until the red light comes on
3. Place the original remote of the device you would like to change the volume on 5-10 cm away from your Philips remote and press "volume up" for this example
4. Repeat these steps for the "volume down" and "mute" buttons
5. Repeat these steps for other devices you would like to "push through" volume/mute to a device other than TV

Hope this helps others. I did find that some devices like SAT may not allow you to change the volume/mute, but otherwise this workaround does the trick.
