Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I have a STC-I430IR Digital Scouting Camera. My issue is I got it out today and put new batteries in it because the batteries from last were dead. When I changed the batteries the menu screen came on perfect for a couple seconds then the screen keeps bleaking and will not stop. Take batteries out and put them back in same thing screen work great for couples seconds them start bleaking again and will not stop. What is my problem?

SOURCE: Battery issue

Sorry for the late response (don't know how I missed this post?). Some of The Canon Powershot A530 and A540 cameras are subject to an advisory recall. Seems that a small spring on the battery compartment door can short out the batteries. Suspect this of yours, in that you mention that your camera's battery icon is flashing. If your camera is on the list, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following link for more info:

SOURCE: NIKON D70 Camera not working after battery change

You may just have two bad batteries, or maybe your charger is bad.

You should have a DC power adapter with the camera, plug that in and see if the camera works longer with it.

You should also have an adapter to use CR02 batteries with the camera. You can buy three of the CR02 batteries at the drugstore (they are NOT rechargeable) and see if the camera works.

If any of these things work, you have bad batterie.

If they don't work, then there is likely some kind of short in the camera and you will need to send it to a service `center or your local camera shop. You might also just take it there and see if they have a known good D70 battery they could try for you.

Why won't the camera work at all after replacing the batteries ?

Make sure that the battery contacts are not corroded. Otherwise call the manufacturer. They have a 1 year warranty.

Camera says nosd when the same memory card is in it from last year. Tried the other 3 from last year with the same result

Try to check if the contacts in the camera, where the memory card goes in, are still clean and shiny. Only one with a little oxide on it, can spoil the fun. Only try to clean with a dry cloth and or cotton swabs. If you use oil or contact spray, all contacts will corrode much faster.
If you have the skill to dismantle the camera, you even can go farther, and check the whole path from the memory card contacts to the maim board of the camera.

are you on manual or auto? if manual sounds silly but your shutter length is too short/ aperture too small (big number) if auto, do you have flash turned on? if all the above obvious to you... the light sensor on the front might be broke so your cam is picking wrong settings

I have a stealth cam STC-1850. Takes good pictures but will not recognize my memory card. Will only record pictures in the internal memory.

What size card are you using? This camera will only take a 2Gb card and may not read anything larger. Try a smaller Gb card
