My samsung tv remote BN59-00673A was working just fine and now, i dont know why if only works sometimes when i place it real close to the tv, i mean like 20 inches from the set. The batteries are fine and the tv is fine also. I have a samsung blue ray player and that remore can operate the tv just fine. so I know the problem is the remote. 16MAR11 - I was searching for how to open this remote control (BN59-00673A). Please note there are 2 screws keeping it together. One is in the batteries compartment, the other is hidden under the sticker on the bottom side that says:
"IF THE LIGHT BUTTON IS SET 'ON', THE BATTERY IS CONSUMED MORE.
TO EXTEND THE BATTERY LIFE, USE OF ALKALINE BATTERY IS RECOMMENDED."
And use credit cards to open it more safely - before I discovered the 2nd hidden screw under the sticker, I nearly broke my remote, but the use of the credit cards helped me discover it by noticing a very slide curvature of "ungive." hope that makes sense.

    Hope this helps.

Drummer is correct: there are two screws. Here is how I fixed a malfunctioning volume button. I removed the screw inside the batteries compartment and the one under the sticker. Then looking at the front IR-glas, I wedged a plastic strip in the left top corner, just where the IR-glas meets the top cover. Then with a very small screw driver I managed to force a tiny gap open on the (long) side of the remote just to the left of that corner. I had to use quite some force to do this. Then, when the gap was wide enough, I could fit a credit card in and slide/push it along the side of the remote. The top came off bit by bit. I repeated the same procedure on the other side. After taking the top off, I rinsed it, the rubber buttons and the transparent cover inside. I cleaned the circuits with alcohol. When all parts were dry I put everything back again.

Had my samsung dlp tv repaired today. tvs fine now but the remote does not work(still works on dvd player) direct tv remote does power on tv either or control volume anymore

It sounds that the remote control should be programmed once again with TV with its setup codes. Setup codes for Samsung TV are:

0105 0077 0076 0109 0007 0009 0004 0005 0085 0172 0942 0358 0012 0015 0080 0104 0106
Check these codes, and select one which have maximum functionality with your TV.

BOSE LIFESTYLE TV SENSOR PROBLEM

Usually on any equipment with a remote---if you hold remote real close and it works you have either a dirty lens for the receiver or a defective infrared receiver in the unit-----odd that moving things would cause this.

If it is only the on/off function having a issue--that would rule out both of the possible solutions I suggested.

Be sure batteries are new/good and no indirect light is hitting front of unit where receiver is located.

Hi I had exactly the same problem with mine it worked the DVD player fine but not the TV even though previously it had worked both .......... Manual Guide In the manual guide I managed to dig out it says to do the following to set up the remote to work the TV

Press the TV button on the remote
Then whilst holding down the power button you need to enter in the samsung TV codes until your TV turns off (I only got to the first and it did it)
The numbers are 00, 15, 16, 17, 40, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 59, 60, 98

Hope this helps

I have two Samsung HD ready series LCD TVS in two different rooms. Both have their own Samsung remote. TV1 works fine. TV2 works fine BUT when TV@ remote switches TV2 on it also switches TV! off! How can...

Hi, To change one of your TV with another brand is not a wise decision indeed. Well, Your TV has a remote sensor in the front side. Try to places both TV on opposite position. Otherwise use the used batteries on both of your TV remote commander. This will reduce its signal.

Remote Problems

Put new batteries in and try again. Sometimes the IR sender may also not be working properly due to a loose connection.
I would also suggest to open the remote and clean the contacts using alcohol. Rub the contacts on the key pad and remote gently.
Hope this works.
