SOURCE: I have a milwaukee jig saw, 6268-21 that I cannot load blades.

Yes the Milwaukee 6268-21 does require the use of certain jigsaw blades. You have to use T-shank type blades. You push the tension lever hold it while putting the blade in as far as it will go, then you release the tension lever slowly and it will engage the blade. You should then check by pulling on the blade to make sure it is seated properly and will not come out.

There are three dails on the 1581vs jig saw drill one is for the speed whats the other 2 for

The numbered wheel on the top handle is for speed control. The sliding (ratcheted) lever on the side near the blade is for controlling the forward motion - the blade can either go straight up and down or follow a slight orbit on the downward cutting cycle. The third dial is on the bottom and is used to adjust the angle of the blade w.r.t. the surface of the wood being cut.

I own a brand new Makita 4351FCT. The problem is that it tends to saw towards the right. I have changed speeds, movement, type of wood, blades - still the same problem. Can it be adjusted by an expert? Or...

Read the product manual entirely. Save the manual. Post the manual online for others who lost manual.
Next. Check that base is 100 flat, and not tipped slightly.
Some saws have a forward cutting stroke instead of straight up-and-down. This can cause the saw to favor one direction if your hand is moving. Set saw for straight up-and-down and see if problem persists.
Otherwise, get a replacement. I suggest different brand instead of using tool that gives known problem.
If saw does not cut straight and pulls one direction, there is no repair unless some feature shows in the manual.

This is a common issue with jig saws. There are sometimes larger blades, but all seem to distort to some degree. The only real solution is to go slow enough to allow the blade to return to it's normal shape...Essentially, is sounds like another tool would work better, but often you are scrolling with a jig saw and circular saw (for example) would not work.

The other workaround involves several cuts, so the final cut is removing much less material.

It's actually a Skil model 4280 sabre saw. Problem is it doesn't grip blades properly, so they are constantly slipping out. Chuck seems to be engaged, have shot WD-40 in it - no change. Ideas?

There is nothing wrong with your Skil 4280. The universal U chuck blade is the problem. Look at Lenox blade 4318JC or Disston 5418 and you will see a slight ridge on the face of the blade on both sides where the teeth start and the blade tail engages the chuck. Without the ridge the blade will come out.

Blade wont tighten

Here are some directions on installing the blade to ensure the proper procedure has been followed when installing.
  1. Set the blade orbit selector lever to position III.
  2. Fit the supplied screwdriver into the top plunger hole and loosen the internal blade securing screw about 3 to 4 turns counterclockwise.
  3. Insert the blade into blade plunger at a 90° angle to the cutting direction. With a slight upward pressure, turn the blade teeth forward (direction of cut) and guide the back of the blade into the groove in the center of blade roller guide.
  4. Pull gently down on the blade to seat the blade tabs in the plunger.
  5. With the blade in the proper position, securely tighten the blade screw by turning the screwdriver clockwise.
I hope this helps. Please rate on how helpful the answer was. Good Luck and have a great weekend.

How to cut a 45 degree angle on wood using a jig saw

use a combination sliding square to mark ecxactly where you want to cut. Measure the distance from the jig-saw blade to the edge of the jig-saw bottom plate. Use this distance to mark another line parralel to the first line. Nail or screew a straight piece of wood on the second line. Put the jig-saw plate against the wood fence and cut your perfect line.

Problem guiding the direction of cut with a jigsaw.

check that surface plate is square with the blade.don't push too hard,or force the saw,let it cut at it's own speed, guide rather than force.a scroll saw or band saw is more accurate as you control the work piece instead of the tool.
