Hooked up car stereo(sanyo ecd780), yellow with fuse to battery positive, red goes to switch then battery positive, ground wire to ground on chassis. Radio will turn on when the key is off and not in it...

First, did you use a wiring harness to do your install? If so, this should just plug in. If you are attempting to do a hardwire, STOP. You run the risk of frying your entire electrical system. I recommend you take it to the local stereo shop. Hope this helps, but probably not what you wanted to hear.

There are two battery feeds to the radio

1...The main one that connects the battery supply via the Ignition Switch

2...A permanently connected battery that maintains the Code Memory and Tuning Settings Memory.

It looks as though the (2 ) is missing

Usual problem is a blown fuse or loose connector at rear of radio.

I have mitsubishi mirage 2000 my car stereo is antitheft it needs a code to go back on i bought used and cant get contact from the person i end up buying it from can you help me.

I recently changed the battery in my car, and now my radio display indicates 'CODE' or 'OFF' and the radio is not working. What do I need to do?

As part of the radio's anti-theft system on some older model year vehicles (2002 and older), the radio resets itself whenever it loses power from the vehicle's battery. Radio security codes are associated with each individual radio unit rather than the vehicle identification number (VIN) (since a vehicle could have the radio replaced). The radio security code must be input in the radio in order for the radio to work.

When you purchased your vehicle, you should have received a card that lists the four digit security code for the radio. If you are unable to locate this card (sometimes owners find it inserted in the Owner's Manual or glove box), the radio will need to be removed so that you can locate the Part Number and Serial Number for your specific radio. The Part Number typically begins with the letters 'MR' and the Serial Number is generally a string of digits and both numbers can be located on the audit unit's chassis.

Please contact your local Authorized Mitsubishi Dealer if you need assistance removing the radio. Once the Part Number and the Serial Number are in hand, your Dealer can access the security code for that radio. You may also contact our Customer Relations Call Center at 1-888-MITSU2011 (1-888-648-7820) and one of our agents will be happy to provide you with the security code and steps to reset the radio as long as you have the Part Number and Serial Number for your radio unit. Agents are available Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (PT).

Is it factory fitted radio ? If so you can get code from Honda by providing proof of ownership of vehicle. Every vehicle has a DIFFERENT code. did car come with the pouch folder of books in the glovebox ? card would usually be in that. if not then gather up your VIN number ,engine number ,make, model, year etc and RING local HONDA dealer.try to find a BIG one ! IF it is AFTERMARKET then will have to go through respective manufacturer but you would need to remove unit to get serial number etc off the unit itself.

Hooking up audio

Unfortunately, even if you get the wiring sorted out, the Ford radio chassis does not fit in a GM - the mounting is entirely different. The wiring harnesses and colors are also entirely different. Maybe best to find a GM radio - most of the GM radios should fit and plug right in.

Fitting a Kenwood car stereo to a 2003 Toyota Hilux ute, all works well until aerial lead plugged in, then immediately the fuse blows that feeds park lights, dash lights, instruments etc. Car stereo works...

The vehicle chassis ground or negative is opposite to the stereo. The aerial is vehicle chassis ground (earth), when touched to stereo results in direct short. If the Hilux is positive ( + ) chassis (earth) and the stereo is negaitive ( - ) ground, there is the short. If this is the problem, either replace with a compatable stereo or compatable vehicle.
