Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Cabrio model WFW6200S that we've had for a few years. It hardly ever gets through a load without stopping (frequently) with an "unbalanced load" error. It doesn't seem to matter what size load we have in it. It happens during the spin cycle generally. I've researched on the web and haven't found a consistent answer. Just wondering where to start on this. Any help will be much appreciated.

Just wanted to let you know that your solution worked like a charm. I installed the new suspension rods and now the unbalanaced load issue is resolved!

I will say that the part that was the hardest to do, unexpectedly so, was getting the basket out. That took me forever. I finally needed my wife and two of my children to help me get it out. I guess trying to lift it out myself put a weird angle on it.

Thanks again - you were very helpful. Much appreciated!

HI. uL is displayed when the machine/motor control detects an off-balance load, and is steady on while the washer runs a mini-cycle to rebalanced the load. The display should clear if the mini-cycle can successfully re balance the load. If the mini-cycle is unsuccessful, uL will flash until the door lid is opened, allowing the user to view and redistribute the load. With that said; If you are overloading the unit consistently, you should expect this code regular to appear. This unit is not a super capacity unit. it is a middle non heavy duty unit that can be damaged if overloaded on the regular. Large king size comforters will cause the uL code to appear, as well.

Additionally, large or over capacity loads will ware down the internal balancing assembly and cause a very limp state in the suspension devices, thus, inducing an uncontrollable wobble during the spin cycle. if this is the case; the entire balancing assembly will need to be replaced to correct the balanced nature of the suspension assembly. Weak suspension assembly parts will trigger the uL code every time the unit spins on any load size.

The necessary actions are to install a new suspension rod kit. The part number for this replacement kit will be W10189077. If the unit wobbles even on a small load, this kit will be necessary. If you need a service manul to help with the replacement procedure, kindly, post your e mail and I will send it to your box, via, attachment.

Washing times are getting longer

It might be easy. The hoses have screen filters at the end where they connect to the water supply. I mostly use COLD only so the cold one gets really clogged quickly. I bought a few at the HW store and I replace them about annually and the time drops like ten minutes or more. However, this year, after 12 years (I have an older model) it stopped helping. I ordered a new solenoid. The time plummeted from 80 minutes to 35. It was amazing.

Whirlpool cabrio washing machine doesn't spin

Try to turn the drum by hand, if it hard to turn, there may be something stuck underneath spin basket. If it does turn freely but makes a loud growling sound, you probably have a bad bearing. You should notice black oil and water mixture at bottom of washer, on the rotor. It will usually throw a f51 error code. This unit has service bulletin on this problem.

Display shows oL - Top-load washer

That oL is overload. You need to remove some clothes. On this model the motor can sense to much weight in the washer. If it does it without any clothes in there check for something jammed between the tubs.

Cabrio washer is giving an F 51 Code

The "F51" error code is common problem with the Cabrio. This is an RPS sensor error. The sensor is mounted along the motor windings under the washer and detects the rotation spin speed. The sensors on these units can go bad, causing the error code, and it has been a frequent problem. I would recommend you contact Whirlpool first (due to the unit only being a year old) and see if there is a recall or upgrade on this part. I believe there is. The repair would then be covered by the manufacturer. If I give you the steps to access and/or replace the sensor at this point, you may be voiding any existing warranty you may still have. Some components carry a longer warranty than your normal one year limited warranty from the manufacturer. Something you may consider.

If you have further questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you in some way.
