The guide you sent to me, using the electronic drawings does not agree with the wiring I have
in the Kenmore 417.29042991. an example : The drawings on the motor differ, and even the speed control card. They are both different from what I have. Please check this out.
    Thanks
    Duane

I checked out all the above drawings but none of them fit what I have. I was checking out some parts and one site I checked was Frigidaire . I put the Kenmore number in and it came up with Kenmore 417.29042991 parts list. This indicates maybe it is made by Frigidaire. I still need your expert help. Thanks, Duane

  • Duane Engelsgaard Aug 31, 2010

I have not been able to find any drawings that correspond to what I have.
Would like to know what the speed control unit is supposed to put out to the motor. (voltage) (ac/dc).
Any new info will be appreciate.
    Thanks Duane

I didn't test or change the pressure switch, since I have it agitating and spinning now, but only in a
    ccw direction.

Can you tell me what would cause it to go in only one direction?

    Thanks, Duane

Hi.

I don't know if you still need help with the problem, it was posted 11 days ago.

Check the pressure switch. This determines when cycle must advance in different parts of the cycle. The pressure switch is difficult to test in full. Since it is not an expensive part better replacing the switch straight away.
Before replacing the switch try also cleaning and blowing into the hose attached to the switch.

Regards.

Ginko.

No agitation or spin? try these:

Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and
Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.

Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Transmission or clutch assembly not engaging due to going out or slipping.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

No Agitate / No Spinning

If it is a top load washer I would check the lid switch, you should hear a click everytime you close the lid. If that is ok, there is a coupler between the motor and transmission, if it is a whirlpool, maytag, estate, admiral or kenmore.

Won't spin or agitate - will pump water water out

This is caused by either a bad door switch or a speed control unit. There is no way to test the door switch but it is the cheapest to replace. Try that first then the speed control. The door lock switch hopefully does it. (even if it locks it can still be bad there is another switch inside.)
