Question about Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

Cassette error, Deco Cassette system. I have an old data east system that loaded the game using a tape drive, and also had a security dongle for each game. I have matched dongles and games, but am receiving a tape deck error message. Motor hums, but the drive post isnt moving. Any chance this is simply a broken band that I can jerry-rig to fix?

The problem comes from both a faulty cassette and a faulty cassette deck.
Hopefuly both problems have been identified and they can be repaired using new parts.
You can contact me by email if you're still interested as I produced these parts (but I have a small quantity).

What is the e10 error code on the stereo

E10 : Tight tape error
Cause: A restricted cassette tape transport or broken cassette drive belt
Correction: Substitute a different cassette tape. If there still is an error code, service the unit at an ACDelco Service Center.

If you cannot get the cassette player fixed I would recommend replacing the radio instead of going to a service center as it would be cheaper.

Why does the tape get caught in my toshiba rd-xv45kb recorder when i try to eject the cassette and the tape snaps

Not sure about the Toshiba but generally when inserting a cassette it is lowered onto the tape drive. There is a device that will register the presence of a tape which used to commonly be a phototransistor or similar mounted on a short post that is covered by the cassette.

Once the machine knows a tape has been inserted, when play is pressed two vertical rods move towards the heads dragging the tape with them enough for it to make contact with the sound head and wrap part of the way around the video head to make playback possible.

When stop, forward or reverse winding or eject is pressed those two rods move back to the starting position and the surplus tape is wound back into the cassette.

If a cassette ejects leaving a loop of tape that can mostly be pulled out little damaged the reeling in mechanism isn't working. If the tape is jammed and comes free only after breaking the rods aren't returning to the start position.

Engineers use an empty cassette case suitably modified so once the vcr cover has been removed the operation can be observed. The problem might be a worn belt or rubber drive wheel or a problem with the hidden linkages - or it might be an electronic problem.

Philips DCC 600 muziek bewaren op PC

Music cassette tapes were originally used to store data in magnetic form for computers. If you have a Digital Tape deck connected to a computer, as long as you have the correct software installed on the computer, you are able to write date to the music cassette from the computer and vice versa using the tape deck.

The whole Idea of Music Cassettes came after the magnetic tape drive was invented for computers. A circular disk with a diameter of 10cm would hold 1Mb of data on magnetic tape, the drive would spin the disk from one spindle to the other and back to locate data.

An entire room of 128 of these drives was used in the first prototype of the Cray Super Computer.

Tape will not load; Error code 31:23

You may try the following troubleshooting steps:
Remove the battery of the Camcorder for one minute and re-insert the battery to check whether it works.
You may try resetting the Camcorder by pressing the RESET button located on it.
You may also check whether the issue occurs for all the tapes.
If the issue occurs with all the Tapes then it seems that internal parts of the Camcorder are malfunctioning.
Hence, the Camcorder requires service.

Hitachi Camcorder VM E220A - After load cassette "TAPE" error

There is a mode switch within the deck assembly that is probably dirty but not cleanable. I haven't repaired one of those for some years and am sure spares are no longer available for it. The 58 is V8 format and should be OK but may show similar symptoms due to age, in the future.
