Question about Apple MacBook (MB402LLB) 133 in Mac Notebook

1 Answer

2006 model A1181 2.0 Ghz 13.3 inch black macbook. Screen was losing backlight if opened too far. Shop said they could fix, and then said sorry totally broken, no display now. New shop replaced inverter, no backlight. so then they replaced entire display, no backlgiht. What can be checked now. Any microfuses on motherboard? Computer turns on, and faint display on screen, but backlght non-responsive.

If the new shop was repairing it with respect to the problem of you having no backlight, take it back to them and show them that it is not working and demand that they repair it correctly. Failing that you should really take it to a mac authorised repair shop i.e. an apple store to get it repaired.

Black spot in my screen.

Unfortunately not. this is either caused by internal damage to the lcd or it could be caused by a light leak in the lcd. It needs to be taken to the Apple store if you still have the one year warranty or if you purchased an extended apple care plan. If not you can contact a local independent repair person.

It sounds like the display somehow simply got set to a different resolution. Open System Preferences / Displays and choose a resolution that satisfies you.

Sorry but your lcd backlight needs replacement. Take it to the apple store and see if they'll give you a replacement. If they don't there are third party Macbook Repair services that can fix it for you. There are also free Macbook Repair guide that show you how to fix it yourself. The part is on Ebay.

Can I add backlight to my 13 inch macbook (unibody)?

Do you mean the behind the keyboard backlight or something else?
As far as I'm aware only the macbook Pro models have KB backlighting so without a motherboard change you are probably out of luck

Hello,
Thias can also come from a dead hard drive, or a dead backlight (screen).
The best test would be to plug an external monitor to see if something shows up. If yes, that would mean that the backlight doesn't work anymore. If not, then you have an other hardware problem (motherboard, hard drive).
You can check if the hard disk is the problem by removing it. You should then see a flashing question mark and the screen on.
Keep in touch ;)
