No you can purchase these all over the place. Here is link that sells the memory cards for the minolta maxxum right here. You lots of places sell the a/s card and seems the memory stick. But it seems its a film camera, but i cant confirm what type of memory stick it is with the manual. if you need further assistance please let me know. Thanks, Midwest-tek

Memory card will not go in all the way and the door won't shut.

was it working before?
turn the memory card anyway and have a try - before check inside the memory card compartment with a flashlight if you can see the contacts at the bottom and insert the card corresponding to them.
Or try another card to exclude yours is not damaged or wrong type somehow....

What do you mean by card? A memory card?.. If so, your out of luck. This is a film only camera.

Can i use sd card in 5000i minolta

Where would you put it? Its a film camera. It only uses 35mm film.
The answer is NO.
You'll have to buy a digital camera to do that.

I have a Minolta Maxxum 5000i. It is dead

Check to see if there is a button battery in another compartment. Usually the "big" battery is for the flash and some other functions but there may be another one that serves basic functions like aperture and shutter operation.

Minolta Maxxum 5000i expansion cards- anybody have them?

They're fashioned from pure unobtanium. Few were ever sold as you don't need those cards to do what they do...Except for a few exceptions which were incompatible with your camera anyway.

The Creative Expansion Card for close ups simply biased the programmed exposure to maximise depth of field. You can do the same by selecting the smallest available aperture which allows a fast enough shutter speed to avoid camera shake, or just use a tripod and remote release for slower shutter speeds.

The CEC for portraits "modifies the exposure to suit portraits" according to Minolta. I never noticed any difference at all, I suspect it did precisely the opposite to the close up card to bias towards wide apertures to throw backgrounds out of focus but that's what I'd always done anyway.

They do very rarely come up as old unsold stock but many shops throw them away during a clearout: low demand, plus the high likelihood of a customer finding the card no longer works and asking for a troublesome refund is the overriding factor.

The best source is to find cards which are already fitted to a camera which is being given away on Yahoo FreeCycle or which is being sold on an auction website. I got the Sports Action Card 2 last year for a friend in this way by buying a camera with it fitted. I then cleaned the camera and sold the body only for what I paid for the whole outfit and sold the lens separately at a profit. My friend got the card she wanted for free :-) The other advantage of doing it this way is that you definitely get a chance to check that the card still works: non functional ones produce an error code or a warning bleep IIRC.

Can't format memory card on maxxum 5D

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

    Memory card for older camera

    Hey ForestFamily,
This camera has the capability to use what are called creative expansion cards. These cards are not memory cards since this is a film camera. Creative expansion cards set the camera for a specific shooting situation and reconfigure the cameras' controls so it can best achieve your desired result. These cards are no longer being made, but you can find them for sale on different websites used. I hope this helps!

    Sincerely,
    Allan

The i-series Maxxums were the 2nd generation of Minolta auto focus SLRs. They had cards for various shooting modes beyond what you could set on the camera. It is not a slot for memory cards like the newer digital cameras. The slot was also the access point for a repair tool to adjust the cameras internal settings of speed and exposure,

The repair tool used to do this was: An original GameBoy...

You can use any lens made for Minolta AF. Latest models of the lenses will not work properly since they have more features than your 5000i is capable of, i.e. power assisted zoom..
