Question about Maxtor Hard Drive
Where to put jumper for main drive
On the model 54098h8 this is a IDE drive and was in service in the mid 2000 era. most drives warranty expired by 2003.
the jumper postion is for J50 which is MASTER with jumper ON and SLAVE OFF See photo below or look on this link

For main drive, you can install it without any jumper you will need to jumper the second one, if in need.
If it is a S-ATA drive there are none jumpers, first SATA drive connects to SATA1 on mainboard, the second on SATA2.
