What is the DC power zener regulator voltage in Model 220 shredder?

You only told me what I already knew. I needed the zener rated voltage so I can replace it because it is shorted, I couldn't read the markings, and I do not have a schematic. Since asking I have managed to borrow a high powered microscope and deduce the markings finding out that it is a 9.1 volt zener. I will get one on Monday at our local electronics supplier and be in business.

I would appreciate a refund of the $6.

Hi,

Its an Regulated power supply using zener diodes. To regulate small amounts of current the cheapest approach is to use a zener diode.

A Zener Diode is an electronic component which can be used to make a very simple voltage regulator circuit. This circuit enables a fixed stable voltage to be taken from an unstable voltage source such as the battery bank of a renewable energy system which will fluctuate depending on the state of charge of the bank.

Please contact Fixya support team on refund request. In-future if you are posting a question on any forum, please explain the problem; which was done only in your second post. Output is always dependent in your input.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Equilent for a zener diode (RD 30ESB2)

Zener diodes are invariably used as low power voltage regulators or as a voltage reference for voltage regulating circuitry.

Zener diodes are sold by wattage and reference voltage by numerous component suppliers and constructor stores and in theory the voltage is marked on them, though difficult to see and easily defaced.

Finding an equivalent for what appears to be a manufacturer's part number presents a rather difficult challenge. The official service sheet will probably provide the required voltage. Without that information you will either have to purchase the component from the manufacturer under the part number or experiment until the required value is discovered.

What is the zener volt

I'm not sure what your question is. A zener diode is a voltage regulator of sorts. The zener voltage is the avalanche voltage...the voltage that the zener diode will maintain when it's connected in series with an impedance, usually a resistor, IF the voltage across the zener diode and the impedance, in series, is greater than the avalanche voltage (zener voltage), and the polarity of the voltage across the zener diode is thus: positive cathode, negative anode (i.e., reverse bias). The excess voltage (the margin) appears across the impedance. Zeners are often used as voltage reference diodes in regulated power supplies. Does this answer your question?

Shredder Green light won't come on and won't shredd. won't go in reverse either.

I had the same problem with the same shredder. The unit uses mains voltage which is rectified to DC and eventually feeds two 12V zener diodes wired in series for a 24Vdc supply. These are 1N4742A (Radio Shack 276-0563), 1W parts. They overheat and will short, which you can verify with a VOM. I reassembled the unit, but recall they are away from the relays at the tail end of the large white colored power resistors, side by side in the same direction. I think Z1 and Z5. After replacing these parts, green LED and reverse, etc. will work.

My hitachi 29in ctv power supply 110vac had a problem on zener diode will blown if we switch on the tv. what spare parts to change so that the power supply zener diode will not blown again and the supply...

The secondary output voltage comes out from is more than it should be there. That is why, the protection zener diode blows off, as soon as you switch ON the set. First find and repair the power supply regulator, for correct output voltage. Refer its repair book for details. After repair include the zener diode in place. OK.

We have a DLP television and it will not turn on and there is a red light flashing in the bottom right corner

you should check on the power regulator, usually there are several components that cause damage with symptoms like that. I will try to describe some existing components associated with such defects:

1. Elco 100uf/160 or 220uf/160 Volt, may have been damaged / leaking or dried fluid
2. Horizontal output transistor, such as D1554 or similarities
3. Zener Diodes (5Volt) for the IC Program or 12-volt regulator on the main Power (Live Area)

Also check the voltage B +, must be available 115-volt DC, when the TV is turned on. And 5-volt voltage to the IC program should be available even when the TV in stand-by mode

Burnt Zener diode... Voltage spec??

On the cathode of the zener diode look for a filter cap and check its value the voltage of the zener should be less than the working voltage of the zener. Basicly its likely being used as a shunt regulator as protection and regulation of the voltage. When the zener hits a certain threshold it will breakdown and start conducting to ground until the supply regulates and then it will recover. If the filter cap for that voltage rail was 25V I would guess that the zener would probably be regulating between 12 and 20 volts. I'd pick a 15V Zener its probably +- %10 on the original and any system should be able to take a %10 tolerance as a general design rule.

This is error code which system control detected either power irrgularities or dc voltage is detected from the speaker out put line. This fault we have noticed that both of them appears same time also.Pls change Amplifier ic TDA8920 and C1740 transistor and 27V1w zener diode.Transistor and zener diode is for voltage regulation and amp ic if the dc detect is active.Usualy change this three components same time.(this all is in power amp section)

Sylvania Model 6427FF; Serial V31567989

You probably have a couple of resistors out as well as a shorted D396 Zener Diode that is supposed to keep the voltage regulated at 8.2 Volts DC. With it being a Sylvania brand, it is probably not worth repairing.
