Question about D-Link DIR-625 (790069292637) Wireless Router

1 Answer

Our wifi access keeps getting disconnected when our home phone rings. We have been told to change the channel but there are no buttons to do this. Is there another way or would a new router need to be purchased?

You must log in to your router's web administration tool, by firing a browser on a PC (preferably connected to the router by wire) and going to Fill in 'Admin' as 'User Name', and leave the password field empty. In the 'Wireless Settings' page, uncheck the 'Enable Auto Channel Scan' setting, choose a different channel under 'Wireless Channel'. Save the settings and make some tests with your environment, by using your cordless phone whist browsing the net. If you are still facing problems, try a different channel, and so on.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out soon.
Regards, Carlos

How do change channels on a belkin,92

You need to access your router IP page to change frequency channels, the default IP page address is Open a web browser and type that address into the url, that should take you to your routers IP page. There are many settings in there you don't want to mess with if you don't know what they mean, now scroll down to wireless settings after gaining access into your router. There you will find channel options, I'd pick channel 11 also if you have a smart phone you can download an app of the google play store called WiFi analyzer. In that app it will show you how crowded channels are around you, most are on channel 1,6.

Why do I ony have a network available when I am at home now - what changed?

Your Galaxy will be setup it only does mail on WiFi, I think to keep your data usage on your mobile contract low. WiFi is only possible to hotspots you have access to. Like the one at home. Or at Starbucks and Mac Donald.

Bluetooth will not stay connected to cell phone when wi-fi is in use

If this only happens at home, you can probably enter the wifi settings and change the channel it uses to connect. If it happens any time you're near a wifi connection, you'd have to change the channel setting within the Bluetooth device if that's even possible.

I've a Edimax 7284WnA Wireless N150 ADSL/+2 Modem Router. The problem is, whenever I use its wifi functionality with my sony laptop, the connection keeps disconnecting. Please note that the internet...

You are right, if your laptop has no issues except in your home, your laptop is not the problem. You should read the "Communication Failures" section of my tip entitled "Understanding Wireless Networks". You can read it here. You should troubleshoot this starting with the obvious... Are you in Range? Is there a device causing interference (cordless phones, other access points, microwaves)? If there are other WiFi Access Points in your range, verify that they are on a different channel than your router (you can do this with a free WiFi Scanner called "NetStumbler" or "InSSIDer"). If you follow my advice given in the article, and you still have issues, there is a possibility of the router's transmitter/receiver starting to fail.
I hope this helps,

My wifi network goes down when my home phone rings

Lots of cordless phones will interfere with WIFI if the router is on certian channels. Try getting into your router and changing the channel to 11. Channel 6 is the default of many routers and it is real close to the same frequency of cordless devices.

If you need to know how to get into the router, just comment here and I will explain it.

My problem is the belkin wirelwess router it keeps disconnecting itself from the servers

Do you have similar problems with other wireless clients (notebooks, desktops, anything?)

1st : try a different wifi channel on your router--channel 1, 6, 11 are best choices, if your area isn't already congested.

What level of signal are you getting on the PS3? You can check the STATUS of the Network connection to see in % how well it's connecting. Anything less than about 90, and I would get disco's frequently. Heck, even with a wifi access point sitting within a few feet, I'd still get occasional disconnects.

The bottom line with wireless--in a perfect environment without interference from other devices, a PS3 can operate fairly well. But, in the real world, the overall competition for those frequencies varies in each and every area, if you're not having any luck, and have tried reorienting, changing channels, etc., about the last thing within the WiFi arena--drop your accesspoint/router down to a lower data rate if you can. The slower the rate, the more distance and more resilient the wifi can be. Try 5.5mbs, or even 1.1.

If all fails, the BEST method is of course, running some network cable and ditching the wifi connectivity. You can count on a wired connection no matter how many cordless phones and microwaves are in the area.
