Question about Dacor ECS130 Epicure Electric Single Oven

2 Answers

Dacor ECS130SCH - Both oven lights (halogen, 12V, hi temp) went out on each side of the oven wall. The original p/n is 86364 but now only 86573 is available. Difference is bulb pin diameter is smaller. Replaced but no light. Then measured voltage from bulb socket and read 0.5V AC.

Previous expert said I should measure 110V - which is not correct - it is a 12V bulb.

  • cwr618 Aug 29, 2010

I measure about 0.5VAC at each of the two sockets. The replacement bulbs were checked for continuity prior to installation. Note I purchased the Dacor part number and these bulbs (G4 base - 4mm pin spacing) are rated for hi-temp oven duty. I'm not sure if the ones for Malibu outdoor low voltage lighting can handle the temps.

When I push the panel switch labeled "light", I can hear the relay switch click and the light socket voltage switches from 0.0 to about 0.5VAC.

Do I conclude that there is something wrong on the control panel motherboard where the light's low voltage originates?

Does the appliance repair person exchange the board at $XXX dollars and $YYY labor? Is that my only alternative? Or do it myself since the Dacor factory is about 40 miles from here. Is it a difficult job?

    Thanks

Just confirmed what I had suspected - that it is a control board issue.

If you read 0.5V with light on, then there must be something wrong, this bulbs are 12VAC.

By the way, the original part Dacor OEM 86364 is still available on the Internet, and it is cheaper than 86573. Here the part:

Ebay seller, 10 bulbs for $7.

Q10T3/CL-12V $0.41 10W 12V Replacement Lamp Light Bulb IN-STOCK

If you are not sure if a bulb has blown or not, and if the filamet does not look broken you can test the bulb using your multimeter, if the bulb reads infinity (open), then the bulb has blown.

Let me know if this solves your problem, in that case please do not forget to accept the solution.

    Hi.

The 0.5V reading is quite an uncommon fault, double check, and before calling repair you can try the $7 bulbs. If there is low voltage to bulb, then it is probably the electronic control. To do a clean job, volts at board and wiring should be tested. That is a job for a technician.

If you want to arrange repair contact an authorized service, if there is one at 40 miles, they will send you a technician with parts.Click here to locate service.

This voltage is not normal ..this is probably the voltage of the negative or the ground...it has to be normal 110 v cause this oven works without any transformers ...so the issue to check is the power suply line from the point of entry to the bulb ..and see where is interrupted...

I wasnt aware that it has a transformer..this is why I supposed that if it is powered by the wall plug ..than it should have the voltage ...its the same thing ..in no case it has like it looks so it is a break in power on the line ...

Both oven lights out

Are you buying hi quality oven grade lamps for this purpose that'll take the intense heat inside an oven? I wonder if they're halogen or tungsten filament lamps. Defective solder, frosty joints and/or ring fractures on lamp driving areas of a circuit board ARE indeed capable of causing problems with lamps.

Our Dacor Millennia wall oven will not heat

There is a manual reset button behind the vent under the touch pad. Turn off the power. Open the door. Remove the vent. Behind the latch is a two wire switch. press the red button on it until it clicks. reassemble and turn on power. It over heated when the power went off by stopping the cooling fan.

Hi, Dacor has a Technical Manual that may help you with your problem. It has a ECS wall mount oven but does not list a ECPS. Is your listing of the model correct? Here is a link to download the Technical Manual. https://www.scribd.com/doc/14008662/Dacor-Technical-Manual

Dacor error codes

HI. the F-1 code is a System Watchdog Circuit failure code.

Press "Cancel", if beeping continues after 30 seconds, replace the main control board (also called clock or ERC).

Concerning the F-5 code. This is an oven temp sensor failure code. have it replaced asap. ((Check the wiring leading to and from the control and sensor for cracks and fouled structure. if the wiring is bad, replace the harness as well)),

like another person stated-from the front behind the door, take off the 6 screws and the cover by the latch. there is an "oven hi temp limit switch" It is crome with 2 heavy black wires connected to it. On the back side of this is a small red button which will reset the limit switch. I had the same issue (everything worked except the any of the heating elements) and quickly resolved.

The fix is replacing the mebrane panel. Recent poster advised they where able to get Dacor to send a new panel and they would install (it's not difficult). I bought one online for around $175 and installed myself. Do a search for details.
