Question about Toshiba Satellite P305D-S8900 Notebook

1 Answer

Hello, I have Toshiba P305D-S8900. My son was playing some games on the computer. The screen display automatically changed to really bright. I am not able to reset it no matter what I try. I uninstalled the games, tried system restore to no avail. I am thinking about resetting the laptop to the factory setting if that is only option. Actually, I don't even know how to do that either. Toshiba tech support charges to tell me how to reset to factory setting. Can you help on this! Please Thanks, IN

Use a boot disk such as, the Ultimate Boot CD or the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows if you don't need a BIOS password. If you do, try Toshiba.

You can follow LavaTech's instructions to set the machine to boot from the cd, and you can load any retail version of windows. You will have to go to http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Product%20Support
to download and install the device drivers.

Hi,
You will need the restore cds that came with your laptop. Insert the restore cd in your dvd drive and restart your computer. When the message "Press any key to boot from cd" press enter.
Then follow the on screen instructions to restore your computer.

I have a toshiba laptop model P305D S8900, when I power the laptop on the hard drive is running and the fan is running and the lights are on but I get no display

I had same problem and turned out to require a new motherboard as power comes via that part. Was not under warranty and too expensive to repair.

Black screen if electrical cord is plugged into my Toshiba

Power options is most likely where you need to look to fix this. Go to the Control Panel and search for Power Options then change plan settings.

On a laptop, you will see that there are different options when you are plugged in versus running on battery.

Check your settings for blanking the screen when you are plugged in, that's probably where you will find the problem, set it for at least an hour before it blanks the screen.
