Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer
The print warms until 40% and then shows the message. I have read somewhere that is a something with printhead position.
I have checked 1.Printhead
2.Whiper Drives , and clutch.
Am really out of ideas what migth be.
On the machines left frame, about midway back near the bottom there is a stainless steel block that the print head shaft runs through.
Pull the spring assembly off and locate that up and to the left.
The print block is about 1 inch square, and is most likely contaminated with some ink and needs to be removed from the shaft and cleaned. Also remove any loose ink around the print block that you can.

There is a print block located on the left side of the machine looking from the front. It is near the bottom of the machine, Staineless steel, about 1 inch square.
It normally has ink in it and causes the print head to pivot slow.
You have to pull the spring holder up and to the left, remove that block and clean it well. That should resolve your problem.
You want to remove as much excess around the block as you can.

Tips for a great answer:

The printhead is stuck in the tilted position or is not able to tilt forward to the print position, due to problems:
Has ink spilled ink around the printhead that prevents it from moving to its center position? You should be able to push the printhead right to left. Clean the printhead area. Is the printhead stuck to the Wiper Blade? Check the process drive gears for obstructions. Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and homed. Has ink spilled on the Head Tilt gear drive train? Clean the gears area of ink.
