Question about Logitech Z-2300 Computer Speakers

1 Answer

When I plug in either of my two sets of Logitech Z-2300 speakers into the headphone jacks on any of several computers or LED TVs, the subwoofer's sound is muted by 70% (but not the two other speakers). However, if I plug the speakers into an Apple Airport Express' headphone jack, which is running music wirelessly thru iTunes, I get the full base on the subwoofer. In fact, at only 1/3 volume it just booms! I have two sets of the Z-2300 speakers and they both behave the same way. How can I get the full subwoofer sound when plugging directly into computer or LED TV?

Ok,

The issue here is volume control, Your tv and your computer both have this control and they both have basically amped the signal for ya.

When you take this to a airport your basically getting the signal untouched. Now this would allow for your speaker system to be controlled.

Check this:

Computer

1. Volume control (bass treble function)
2. TV volume control Bass treble

See this system controls its own bass and treble so when you have a computer or tv hooked up they have already controlled those levels so your getting it already controlled so the system is picking up &0 percent fo the signal form the tv.

1. Check bass.trebal on both tv and computer you will be surprized on the outcome.

Thanks for your comments if you have any questions please let me know

please do lcick the accept button for my efforts, thanks

Phone jack on woofer goes into computer tower (should be color coded green) and power cable on woofer plugs into 120VAC. Speaker phone jack plugs into back of woofer. The speaker cable has an on-off switch and volume control as well as a phone jack for your headset.

Z313 no sound

Phone plug on subwoofer plugs into phone jack on back of tower! Plug and jack are color coded green. If you plug into wrong jack you get no sound or intermittent sound. Also speaker cables have an on-off swith so make sure you are switched "on" or you will not get sound.

Hi

http://www.livedigitally.com/2005/09/05/logitech-z-2300-speaker-system/

It would appear you need 2 x 1/4 inch (3.5mm) jack to RCA cables, one for each channel and each speaker, left and right, rather than just the 1 cable ("..and a mini to RCA cord...") you seem to have bought.

The Yellow and Black RCA ports appear to be the Left and Right speaker channels respectively.

The output cable with a green jack that connects to the green jack on the computer's sound card seems to be tied in with the wired Remote Control.

I would have recommended getting a pair of passive 40W RMS Logitech Stereo Speakers.

As long as the speakers you have match in terms of Wattage and Impedance, you should be okay.

I hope this helps.

I have upgradded my Laptop operating system to

Use the ones for Windows Vista. Vista Drivers work for 7.

Now considering these speakers plug in via headphone jack you dont need drivers for your speakers. You should be looking for sound drivers for your laptop.
Plug in headphones see if they work if they do then there is no reason why your speakers should not.

This speaker system has several adapters included, which let you connect it to various sound equipment, including a standard earphone socket on your laptop, or your MP3 player for that matter.

Hooking up a Logitech Z-2300 subwoofer to a Yamaha RX-V392 receiv

This is the exact same setup im lookng at, just a different Yamaha receiver (RX-V663). Since the 3.5mm headphone jack and and the sub preout are both 'line level' you just need to pick up a male RCA to female 3.5mm jack converter from radioshack. I'd expect it to be around $5-8.

I have already stripped my old 5.1 HTIB system rca connector to use the surround speakers with my receiver. They work but are cheap speakers. Im tempted to do something similar with the z-2300 speakers, much higher quality, but I would definitely use a converter instead of stripping to keep them backwards compatible.
