You could try locate the latest drivers for your laptop.
If it says not skype certified webcam, not alot you can do other than buy a cheap webcam to use with skype.

Cannot get skype camera to come on on an existing account

I can't get my webcam to work

1. Check that your webcam is switched on and plugged into your computer

2. A webcam can only be used by one application at a time, so make sure you don't have any other applications open that are accessing the webcam, e.g. other instant messaging applications or even some websites.

3. Problems with video are often caused by driver issues. A driver is the program you install with the webcam which makes the webcam work with your computer (some webcams use preinstalled drivers so you may not have had to install one). Make sure you have the latest driver installed. You can download and install the most recent drivers from the webcam manufacturer's website.

To test your webcam go to the Skype menu > Preferences > Video and tick the box Enable Skype Video. When Skype is able to use your webcam, you will see a video preview of yourself.

I am having trouble with my skype video. When I make a call I can see and hear them, but my party cannot see me. I have a logetic webcam250. Please help!!!!!

You should install the drivers before you try to operate the webcam, unless the instructions state otherwise. If the drivers are not installed, unplug the webcam and install the drivers, and plug the web cam back in when promoted. If you have the drivers installed already, or can confirm the web cam works, open up skype and navigate to tools then options. Once in the options menu go to the video settings tab. In the "select webcam" drop down menu select the webcam of your choice.

It's also possible you are using an older version of skype that my not support new protocols for video, OR it's possible you are using a new version of skype which doesn't automatically start video. If you are using an older version of skype (current version is 5.1) update to the later version. If you have the latest version, you may need to manually start video chat. When you start a call, look towards the lower area of the screen for a button that says "My video" and click on it. This should start the video chat.

Hope this was of some use!

How can i install video on skpe

With skype you need to have a webcam installed on your computer. If it is a laptop with a webcam, then you just have to have the drivers installed, and in Skype go to Tools-Options-Video Settings, and choose your webcam there. Save your settings and make a call to someone in your Skype contact list and you will be able to video message. If you have a dekstop then you will need to go buy a webcam, install the drivers from the disc they include, plug in webcam, then in Skype go to Tools-Options-Video Settings, and choose your webcam there. Save your settings and make a call to someone in your Skype contact list and you will be able to video message. You will also have to change your audio settings in Skype to use the microphone on the webcam as your microphone source.

I have a hp deluxe webcam model KQ246AA. When I try to have a video call with Skype, It doesn't work , Says unknown video error or sometime it has said camera is in use by another application????

Before you can use your webcam in any chat program you have to configure it to that program

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

working OK ?

CONFIGURE TO SKYPE
Connect webcam
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.(webcam not found or webcam in use elsewhere error messages)
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting your defaults
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
This will launch your webcam
Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings'
Check the correct webcam is shown as default
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.
