It is important to reseat and clean all the components including the fuser unit and the Paper Trays. Most laser printers become faulty when heavier media in printed, even if the specs says that it supports, we should handle it properly. The paper weight is not only what we should only consider, we need to check the hardness and softness of the paper as well. The harder it is, the more chances it has to damage the cartridges, drum and the fuser. This can even displaced the drum and the cartridges. Sometimes gears will loose and you'll need to repair it or even throw it. The only solution for now is "Cleaning" and "maintenance". You can use soft cloth or tissue paper to clean all them. It's also important to blow the passages or compartments with a Blower. Pull out the paper try (if it detachable), and also remove the fuser unit and start working.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Black and white prints are not black

Sorry, steve, that you are experiencing this problem.

According to canon.com's website regarding the i9900 InkJet Photo Printer:

Why color ink may be used when printing in black and white Even when printing in black and white, color ink is used for the following reasons:
  1. Automatic cleaning of the print head.

To prevent the print head nozzles from clogging, the print head is automatically cleaned periodically. At that time, a small amount of each color ink is consumed.

Therefore, although printing in black and white is performed, color ink is also consumed.

  2. Color inks may be used to create black.

When printing in grayscale or on photo paper or when duplex printing, although printing appears in black and white, the color black may be created using the three (cyan, magenta, and yellow) color inks. Printers without a pigment black tank / cartridge will print black / grayscale will create a composite black using color ink even on plain paper.

Therefore, although printing in black and white is performed, color ink may be consumed.
  3. In order to keep the heavy black ink from smearing on the page or in the printer, color ink is used when duplex printing to help create black text.

    ---
I might suggest taking out the color ink cartridges leaving only black there, but some printers don't take kindly to this. So, you may have to further experiment with magenta, cyan, and yellow to make it at least seem b&w to your best eye's judgment.

Good luck on this.

Download the latest copy of the C30 firmware, Fargo created a fix by sending more power to the ribbon sensor. After downloading the new firmware, calibrate the ribbon covering the printer the best you can from light.

Canon i9950 prints green on photo paper

I had the same problem. Having checked other websites I came across the following which narrowed down the problem to the Photo Cyan / Photo Magenta ink tanks, and replacing the Photo Magenta one (although it was not empty) has successfully resolved the problem. Eveidently ink from the original one was not flowing and so caused the syan cast. (I experimented by subsequently removing the Cyan one which produced prints with Magenta cast)

TEXT OF POST I FOUND:-

That post is labeled "Cannon (sic) S9000 Print Head" and concerns a greenish hue error in all print quality levels OTHER THAN plain paper. In other words, all output designated as Photo Paper Pro, Glossy, High Resolution Paper, etc., results in output with enormous and unacceptable levels of green hue. All output designated as "Plain Paper" whether the output actually is on plain paper or photo paper pro, turns out well.

This problem is not unique to the S9000, as I experienced it identically with the S820 and predictably can occur in any printer with the six cartridge print head.

It is a frustrating problem because you know that the printer is physically capable of printing WITHOUT the hue (as it proves to you each time you choose a "plain paper" paper setting.)

Troubleshooting by reinstalling and updating the printer drivers, and uninstalling/reinstalling the ZoomBrowser EX, replacing the ink cartridges, and deep cleaning are all blind alleys.

A call to Canon support solved the problem for me with this simple and important revelation:

The Plain Paper setting is unique in its use of only 4 of the 6 cartridges. In the Plain Paper setting, only the black, cyan, magenta and yellow cartridges are utilized. The Photo Magenta and Photo Cyan are not utilized. In all higher resolution settings, i.e., in all other settings, all 6 cartridges are utilized.

It follows that if one's problem disappears when not using these two Photo cartridges (i.e., when printing at the Plain Paper setting), then the problem lies with these cartridges.

(In my case, I'd loaded a plain "Cyan" cartridge in the "Photo Cyan" slot during earlier trouble shooting and had forgotten to replace it with the proper Photo Cyan cartridge.)

Problems with magenta hues would admit of the same solution.

Hope that helps anyone else out there tearing out their hair trying to troubleshoot this. "

HP laserJet 6L printer making noise/not printing correctly

The problem with the screeching sound and horizontal lines printing is no lubricant for a small motor, not the main motor. To fix this problem, download the service manual which shows how to remove the case. You’ll need a phillips screwdriver and some machine oil or something similar to Z-Max. When the printer is apart and you’re facing it, on top there’s a compartment with a metal cover plate (shield) held by two screws. To the left is a spring loaded switching system that rocks into position when it’s called, and presses on the tab of a leaf switch. With the printer plugged up, you can press on the leaf switch which will engage the printers system, causing the printer to attempt printing. During this you’ll hear the screeching sound you’re describing. This is your test procedure during this repair. Next, notice the two multi-wire connectors at each end of the compartment. One bundle runs across the top of the compartment and connects on the other side. Remove both connectors and the two screws that hold down the shield; one holds down a metal pressure tab, also to be removed. This releases the shield exposing a small circuit board that has a control IC and a small motor. Three screws holds this circuit board to the printers plastic casing. Taking care not to handle the circuit traces (IC Static Protection Protocols), remove the screws and remove of the board. On this board is a small motor with it’s flywheel held down by a square weight and a pressure tab. Remove the top tab and the weight, turn the plastic guide to the side, and lift the flywheel away from the motor. Apply the lubricant to the shaft of the flywheel and reassemble the system. Try your switch test. Chances are, it’ll work without all that screeching. If you get that far, trust me, it’ll print. The "finge"

Printer doesn´t print using the mangenta ink cartridge

try this :

1. Make sure the printer is turned on but not printing.

NOTE: You cannot clean the print head if the any of the cartridges are expended. Replace the appropriate ink cartridge before proceeding.

2. Load letter size paper.

3. Click on START.

For Windows 95/98/ME: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PROPERTIES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows 2000: Click SETTINGS, PRINTERS, then RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows XP: Click CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS AND FAXES. RIGHT-CLICK your EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. If this icon is not showing, select VIEW INSTALLED PRINTERS. Then RIGHT-CLICK the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

For Windows Vista: Click CONTROL PANEL,HARDWARE AND SOUND then PRINTERS. Note: these steps may vary depending on how Vista is setup. RIGHT-CLICK on the EPSON STYLUS PRINTER ICON. Select PRINTING PREFERENCES from the drop-down menu. Proceed to Step 4.

4. Click on the UTILITY or MAINTENANCE tab, then click on HEAD CLEANING.

5. Follow the instructions on the screen to clean the printhead. Cleaning takes about 30 seconds, during which time the printer makes some noise and the power light flashes. Never turn off the printer while the power light is flashing, unless the printer has not moved or made noise for more than 5 minutes.

6. When the power light stops flashing click PRINT NOZZLE CHECK PATTERN and then click NEXT.

7. If the nozzle check pattern has no gaps in its lines, click FINISH. If the pattern has any gaps, click CLEAN to clean the printhead again.

8. If the situation continues after three cleaning cycles and nozzle checks, replace one of the affected ink cartridge(s).

9. Once the cartridge(s) has been replaced, please follow steps one through seven up to three times.
