Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
Re:My Kenmore Elite top loading washer keeps filling with water even though I switch it to the next cycle.
If the machine fills all the time and never stops, then either the inlet valve is stuck open, or there is a contact and the inlet valve stays energized all the time.
Disconnect main power cable and disconnect inlet valve contacts. Insulate the connectors and connect power back.
If the machine keeps filling all the time, then valve is stuck open. If the machine does not fill (and does not cycle), then the inlet valve is OK and problem is either a contact, timer board, or pressure switch (this detects water level).
If you are not a tech or an experienced DIYer, I suggest simply testing the machine after tripping the circuit breaker for two minutes to reset the timer board. If that does not help call the service number on user manual and get an on site technician. This fault requires testing and replacement of parts, the problem is likely inlet valve or timer board. Pressure switch may also be involved.

The shut off solenoid is not functioning correctly. Check that and the relay to it

HI, this is just a slight clog or faulty drain pump. check the following areas.
1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).
2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.
