The serpentine belt on my 2002 PT 2.2L CRD limited cruiser has snapped. I have a replacement one, but can't find a workshop manual locally. I need to fix it today as I need the car for work tomorrow. can...

You will need to turn the adjusting bolt in order to be able to have enough slack to place the belt around all the pully's. Don't forget to loosen the locking nut. I believe you have to turn the adjusting bolt clockwise to move that pully in order to be able to route the belt and place it over all the pully's but don't quote me on this. Common sense will tell you which way the pully moves to make more slack in order to put the belt around all the pully's. You can see how it is routed as well as where the adjusting bolt is located in the diagram below. Check all the pully's that the belt goes around to make sure they all spin freely to make sure none of them locked up and that this was the reason your belt snapped in the first place. I hope this helped and good luck. Have fun at work tomorrow....Here's your diagram:

Serpintine belt routing for a 2002 dodge ram 1500 with a 5.9 l engine

this is farely easy to figure out from looking at your pullies. ribbed pullies normaly take the ribbed side of the belt and smooth pullies take the smooth side of the belt. i would start at the tentioner pully (which is smooth) the put the inside of the belt around the 2 nearest pullies and weave it alternating in and out of the rest of the pullies.

Where is belt tensioner and how do you turn it to loosen belt to change

The belt tentioner pully is the idler pully in the serpentine belt system...
You need a long wrnch (11/16??) to fit the pullys center bolt...
Turn the bolt to the right ( righty tighty) and the tentioner will losten its tention on the belt enough to remove the belt...
Imediately replace the belt ... so its routing is not forgotten by time or distraction...
If there is still a sticker on the upper radiator support reflecting the serpintine belt routing.. then you are in a better spot to be doing this ... with distractions...

Replace a serpintine belt on a lincoln mark 7 1997

If your asking how. It's simple make a diagram of the belt routing (there might be a diagram on the frame under the hood). Ther is a tentioner pully that holds the belt tight. Get a ratchet with the proper socket fit it on the nut n the center of the tentioner and you can pull the tendioner pully as to le6t the belt have slack. then carefully take it off of the pully . youll have to twist and wiggle it to come out from behind the fan then install the new one in reverse

The serpentine belt seems missaligned as it goes from the crank pully over the tentioner and down to the power stearing pully. the belt ride the tentioner towards the outside.

The tensioners have always been a problem on the mini vans,if everything else that the belt rides on looks good then its probably the tensioner

How to install cerpetine belt

Usually on the radiator support under the hood there is a diagram on how to "route" the belt. You need to release the tention and hold it while you get the belt off either pully and then when you put it back on. Some places like Parts America, Pep Boys, etc. will change it for you right there if you buy the belt from them. A garage shouldn't charge you much to change it either, it only takes about 10 minutes.

I cannot get the serpintine belt back on the pully after changing the water pump is there an adjusting screw abd where would I find it 1996 pontiac sunfire

there should be a tention pully that is spring loaded and you will need a socket to fit the bolt in the center. then turn clock wise and hold to release tention and set belt in place then slowly release the pully
