Question about OKI C5500n Printer

2 Answers

I have an oki c55oon laser printer which i bought from the united state. when i print on normal paper it comes out very beautifully clear but when i use sublimation paper it comes out scratched as if some thing is used to brush over the picture and the picture is peeled and turn over giving it a faded appearance. i suspect the problem is from the fuser because it also brings out some kind of black residue like splash of ink that seems to be over heated. what is the problem.i bought the printer for sublimation printing and i have not been able to use it yet. what should i do?

The OKI C5500 is not a sublimation printer and you cannot use it as that. Your should be looking for an inkjet printer such as a Canon. Whoever told you you can use the 5500 got it wrong.

Drives and software settings. Lasers are very sensitive to paper type and temp as you know. And if it has many miles on it, ya all those things are due to be replaced I bet. I never pay more than $10 for a used laser if that. Someone ran 50,000 sheets through them usually,

SOURCE: Paper Jam in OKI B4300 Led Printer

This printer is designed with a dual toner/drum chamber. Do not separate these two parts. Upon opening the lid, you will find the toner/drum assembly right in front of you. Pick it up with both hands and pull straight up. After that, you should be able to take the jammed papers. Know this: once a paper is jammed, printing another paper will NEVER take the first out. Just make sure to remove the complete papers. If they break, make sure you extract all the pieces.

One of the drum cartridges is stuck. Test by removing them one at a time with the printer off, then turning on.

It might be a dirty led assembly. The leds hang down from the top when it is opened.

I bought a new Oki C610 a couple of months ago to start up a custom art business. From the beginning, the DCT 4.5 paper has stuck to the fuser roller. With the first fuser cartridge, it just dog-earred on...

Hi my reply was too long heres the second half..and ill retype the first as a comment

Try printing lighter prints, heavy toner saturation causes paper to stick to fusers and try to keep leading edge of print blank with no big blobs of colour for the same reason, ensure page sizes are set correctly in driver and machine tray settings and dont print outside margins , if you are about to print outside margins your printer driver should warn you, dont click ok if it does

Here is your user manual for your oki. and a link to oki print drivers to suit 610

Here is a link to Magic touch Australia that i thought has some good info re transfer paper use

Ensure your printer works ok with plain paper so we know it aint a printer fault but I'd say it due to how we are feeding the paper and how we have the paper type set and not feeding out the rear as I also think we should be.

Oki does the best colour prints nice and glossy, I dont think many come close to such great colour prints in fact I only like Oki and Kyocera stuff in Colour toner laser machines. Stear clear of cheap non oki toners and supplies because they cause heaps of issues and wreck printers and give many print quality issues, I dont work for OKI directly just telling you how it is in the field ;)

Let me know if you need more help and how you go

Cheers
Steve

Our OKI is printing 3 black marks down the right hand side of the page

Hi,

The black marks normally comes from a worn fusing unit. in most printer nowadays, you buy a maintenance kit that comprises of roller, pickup rollers, fusing unit and drum. after changing those items mentioned above, you should correct the 3 black marks on your printouts.

What kind of photo paper should I use to print out photos? I have tried HP photo paper , 222g/m2. but the surface of the print feels like it has "melted" and there are black and white areas on the right...

Hi Anne,
The printer you have is a laser (LED) printer. This means it uses high temperature at the end of the printing process to "fix" the image into the paper. The paper you appear to have used is for a HP Inkjet printer...basically when you put that paper through your laser printer it "melt it" and blister it. What you need to use is Laser photo paper (here an example)

Printing with 190gsm paper

Max paper weight is 203gsm so you are near the upper end of specs, you must feed via manual pass and exit from face up tray (out of rear), paper type(heavy/card stock) must be set on print driver. User guide can more than likely be found www.oki.com.

My informed guess without seeing print sample is that your oki needs fuser unit replaced. Look at orange rollers should br smooth no wrinkles.

Oki printer problem

Possibly a defective paper sensor (small lever in the tray contacts
paper) Try removing, and inserting paper a few times if this clears it
then it was sticking. If that dosen't work then you will have to
disassemble it and inspect the area of the tray switch to determine
it it needs replacement
