CHECK FOR CLEARED COOLING VENTS & FOR PROPERLY WORKING COOLING FANS. THIS WILL CAUSE SHUTDOWN OF THE UNIT. IF ITS ALL CLEAR, YOU PROBABLY HAVE A POWER SUPPLY ISSUE.

I have had a Kenwood VR-407 reciever for almost 9 years now but it has just started cutting off. The small power/standby light above the power button goes off when I power it up but then it shortly...

If you've already disconnected the speakers then I suspect the fault is internal on the amplifier and the unit is shutting down to protect iteself.

The fault with most amplfiers can normally be traced to blown or leading capacitors (bulge on the top or liquid around base) which can be replaced for little cost if you've got the technical ability and equipment to desolder and resolder components on a PCB.

First thing to do would be to remove the cover and check the capacitors as detailed above.

Kenwood VR-509 Receiver won't power up...

Check all your speaker wires for shorts, especially behind the amp, doesn't take much for something to throw a spanner in the works, like when cleaning house and moving stuff around.

Reciever wont stay powered on

I fear that there's no easy fix. Sounds like the power supply or the board which controls it is bad. If you're not an electronics repair person, it'll need to go to a repair shop.

Receiver standby light,no power

WOOHOO!! I fixed this issue... same problem as everyone else has mentioned... to reset the Kenwood VR-606 receiver, unplug the unit. Hold the power button down and while holding the power button plug the unit in.
Say a prayer...
Then press the power button.
My display isn't working, but my speakers are working, and that's really all I care about right now... good luck to others!

Kenwood VR-207 Receiver

You will first need to check the remote control for the unit. Point the remote at a video camera and see if you see the remote light up. If it does try first to UNPLUG the unit for at least a couple of hours. If that as well does not work, you will need to have the unit serviced, as it may have a bad remote sensor on the front board or the microprocessor is No good. Depending on how old this unit is, it may not be worth repairing. Good Luck
