A leading cause of poor drying results in that type of dryer is lint build up in the blower/lint filter housing. That build up will restrict air flow through the dryer causing very long dry times. To repair that the front panel would need to be removed and clean all the lint build up from that housing and blower wheel area.

To remove the front panel DISCONNECT POWER TO THE DRYER, on the bottom of the dryer inside of the door rim will be 2 phillips headed screws, remove those and lift off the top. At the top corners where the front panel connects to the cabinet will be 2 more phillips headed screws remove those and the front panel will pull off and out of the way. With the front panel off the blower housing will be in the lower left side clean lint from it and also the sure to clean all the lint from the lint filter housing which will be attached to the back side of the front panel. In addation to cleaning that area be sure to check and clean the exhaust duct tube as well.

Maytag dryer model #PYE2200AYW how to remove lint compartment once I removed the screws in the front

Things You'll Need:

Nylon scrub brush Liquid detergent Vacuum

1.Remove the lint screen, which usually is located in the front of a Maytag dryer. Gently pull it up and out, and remove the lint with your fingers.
2. Use hot water and wet both sides of the lint screen. Use a nylon scrubbing brush and a little bit of liquid dish soap or laundry detergent to scrub the screen clean of lint and fabric softener buildup. Rinse both sides thoroughly with hot water. Towel dry and replace the lint screen when dry. Maytag states that owners should do this every six months.
3.Clean the exhaust every two years, as recommended by Maytag. Whoever installed your dryer had to install the exhaust vent. Unplug your dyer and unscrew the vent from the back of the dryer. Use a vacuum attachment or your hands to remove any clogged lint and replace. You may need to do the same thing to the other end that is attached to the wall.
4.Clean the dryer cabinet. According to Maytag, a professional should remove lint from the dryer cabinet every two years. This may be a good time to have him clean out the vents as well, rather than doing it yourself, if preferred.
5.Clean your lint screen on a regular basis. Maytag states that you should clean the lint screen with your fingers before using the dryer each time. Be sure to replace it all the way so it can work properly.

How to open front of kenmore dryer to clean out lint

next time send model number, unplug the dryer,if the filter is on top remove the filter and the two phillips screws in front of the filter on the top cover,go to the front and with a screw driver pop the top up,there is a clip one on each side around two inches from each side just pop up the top,use the screw driver and slide it in between the plastic piece of the wire connector and pull apart the door switch harness on the right side,it's hard to just pull it apart, now you'll find a 5/16 inch screw one on each side around 4 inches from the top, take them out and pull the front panel up one side at a time, vac out the front of dryer,if you have a shop vac blow off the motor, alot of lint gets stuck in the motor, put that back together but don't put back the 2 screws on top,now slide out the dryer, remove the vent line and take off the back panel,on the left side you'll see the duct that the filter slides into, take out the 4 screws that hold it in and remove it and clean it out,put it back together,if the vent line is a long run from the dryer to the outside vent i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, check the outside to make sure nothing is blocking that, stick your hand in there or a brush and clean out the opening if it needs it.
if the filter is on the inside, remove the bottom panel, remove the lint filter, take off the duct that the filter slides into and clean it out,if you have a shop vac blow all the lint from the back forward so you don't have to remove the drum to clean it,again blow out the vent line if it's a long this once a year so you don't have a fire and the dryer will run like it should and parts will last longer, good luck

Maytag performa Keeps blowing Thermal Fuse. Vents are clean. Cleaned entire system. Seems to heat up as soon as dryer cuts off.Changed control thermostat as well. Can get one load and replace fuse.

something is still plugged with lint,if the vent line is long blow it out with a leaf blower to clean it out,you have to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,if the filter is on top remove the vent line, remove the back panel, remove the lint filter and the two screws in front of it and remove the four screws and clean out the duct,if the filter is in front take off the bottom panel, remove the filter and clean the duct, also vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,when the dryer gets to hot the thermal fuse pops as a safety so you still have a block somewhere

My Neptune is not drying the clothes in one 90 minute time period, and it's sweating aroung the door and there is wet lint around the door,

you need to clean out the dryer, you should do this once a year so you don't have a lint fire and so this doesn't happen again, your lucky you didn't damage any parts, the dryer runs hotter than normal like this, take off the vent line,if it's a long run from the dryer to the outside i use a leaf blower to blow all the lint out of the line, make sure nothing is blocking the outside vent, now you gotta clean out the duct that's below the lint filter,if you have a shop vac it blows on the other end,i take the dryer apart when i do a clean out but you can blow the lint out, stick the nozzle in the left side and the lint will blow up and out on the right side,if you have a brush for cleaning out dryers you can stick that down in there and pull some of the lint out like that, you should take the front panel off and vac out the inside where the motor is also, blow the lint forward with the shop vac so you don't have to pull the drum out, sounds like alot of work but it isn't and your dryer will last longer, unplug the dryer, open the door and take the four screws out to take the front panel off, 2 in the door and the other 2 opposite the door screws remove the door and pull the front off

My Kenmore 70 series is heating up but NOT drying. I checked the vents. They are clear. The exhaust from the back of the dryer seems to be pretty weak.

Good day,
The lint filter is supposed to do the job, but........
1. Remove lint filter.
2. remove 2 screws under lint filter, then pry up both front ends of the front of the top lid.
Lift lid up and prop up but do not go completely vertical.
3. Remove back cover of the machine.
4. Remove all the screws holding the vent shute on the left side.
5. Lift this shute out and up as far as possible, watching out for the wires.
6. Inspect the blower wheel and it's housing with a light. Should be filled with a buidup of lint.
7. Clean out and reassemble.

Can't find the lint cleaner

In order to locate the lint filter for your dryer you must first remove the door. to do this first open the door and remove the screw that hold the hinges to the front of the dryer. once the door is off. there are 2 screws at the bottom of the front access panel. once the screws are out the panel will come off of its brackets by pulling the bottom out first. once this panel has been removed you will be able to see the inside of the dryer and the lint screen is directly behind this panel on the LEFT hand side and it will just pull straight out. if you need a new one the part number is 33001808.hope this helps

Is there supposed to be a hole on the side of my dryer

Well, though it be simple, you might clean the lint filter everytime you use it. Over time a dryer even with lint filter cleaned will still collect small amounts of lint inside it. You shouldn't worry much but you could call the maytag man to come and take apart the dryer and clean the inside. <;O)

How do I remove the lint trap holder to clean out the lint inside

The font panel must be removed. This may be done by removing the control console (open upper cabinet doors to find screws behind the console). The screws along the top of the lower front panel are easily accessible. Disconnect the two interlock switches, remove the grounding clip attached to the bulkhead & lift the panel off the two lower clips. Inside the panel is a housing that leads to the exhaust blower. It will be packed with lint that may be hardened like papier mache. Just clean out the mess & reverse the process to replace the parts.

not as hard as it will sound here we go
remove the lint filter
remove the 2 phillips screws at the filter housing top you will see these screws after you have pulled out the lint filter
unplug the dryer
remove the back panel
on the left side is the lint filter housing it is held in place with 4 1/4 inch screws remove them
lift up on the filter housing and pull forward you will find the sand inside the filter housing use a vac to **** it out and reassemble the dryer, no more sand
