SOURCE: Kenmore 106.53603202 stopped cooling making a clicking sound

The compressor may not have to be changed it could be the relay that is bad, not properly starting the compressor. The relay is attached to the compressor where the wires go to it. Remove it, Shake it, If it sounds like little rocks are inside (it rattles) than it is bad. Let me know what you find

SOURCE: refrigerator makes lot of noise

New Kenmore / Whirlpool, 25 Ft. side x side. Has drumming noise when running. Checking showed that condenser coils rattle against compressor support rails plus the flimsey rails allow compressor vibration which resonates through out. Looks like Whirlpool cost-cutting crossed the line over to plain old cheapening the product. Waiting on Sears to come check it. Wish me luck. -JT

Laurie a lot of people forget to leave the fridge and freezer door open slightly and the water from defrost hiding behind the rear wall of the freezer will keep the inside of freezer and fridge damp this will cause the freezer fan motor to rust and stop air circulation. My ice maker makes a lot of noise at night I wake hearing it making ice droping sounds. I don't use a lot of ice can I turn the infrared receiving switch to off?

The noise is probably ice dropping into the pan and the normal ice maker and water valve sounds associated with making ice. Most Whirlpool models have a slide cover to "turn off" the ice maker - closing this cover fools the control into thinking the bin is full. Your owner's manual should provide greater detail on this option.

Noisy fan in freezer stops when refrigerator doors open not when freezer opens

The noise you hear is more than likely the fan hitting on ice buildup on the coils and you need to replace the "defrost thermostat" located on the coils in the freezer. Here is the part to order.
Here is a video to walk you thru the process. The model may be different but the process is the same.
Keep me posted.

Kenmore Refrigerator making loud noise

Does the sound occur when the compressor is starting or shutting down? and only lasts for a couple of seconds? I had one do the exact same thing. Sometimes it would also wake me up at night. If so, I'm afraid he is right. On the bright side, it worked fine for years. I gave it to a girlfriend when I purchased a bigger one and it is still working today. The only thing you can do is change the compressor, which is probably not $$ practical.

Clicking Fridge

I used to have a whirlpool fridge, they are the ones who make kenmore too. It used to make a loud thud noise. It was the compressor turning off. sometimes it was loud enough to wake me up at night. It did this for years and I never had any problems with it. when I purchased a larger fridge I sold it to a friend and its still working today. If you can tolerate the noise I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts giving you trouble.
