dont if you got sorted out but sw goes inline with aerial.
cb,patch lead to sw aerial to sw.set sw with variable to to check standing wave calibration.also if you want to use a linear amplifier or a frequency counter you put them inline same way.

SOURCE: tv-- signal strength normal but

When ever the picture freezes intermittendly the problem is usually poor connection on the signal line (antenna or connection on tv) or poor reception. Could be the tuner if the tv has one.To eliminate the tuner possibility try anther tv set if possible.
If you still cannot figure out the problem, let me know what kind of set up you have connected to your tv set.
Do you have a satellite or cable box and if you have splitters.

Neither. If you want to increase the strength of the signal the antennas must be stacked and synchronized by an impedance adapter. Read this

I bought aRCA air ultra thin multi directional indoor HDTV antenna,I cant get this to work with my tv, a 32mf330b/f7 no matter what I do no matter how many times I run the autoprogram, can You help.

Indoor aerials are exclusively for areas with a strong signal and the way digital tv works a good signal is essential.

I expect the signal where the aerial is sited has a poor signal strength and a high gain outdoor aerial will be needed. I suggest you have a look around and check what the neighbours are doing but bear in mind the signal strength in built up and fringe areas can be the radio equivalent of micro climates where moving a few yards in any direction and you could either be freezing or growing pineapples.

If you can take your tv to a good aerial and do a retune and store the found channels you might be lucky and discover your indoor aerial might receive a few channels well enough for viewing.

No signal on set top box im using rabbit ears and

The problem is that rabbit ears aren't that sensitive. They don't pick up enough signal quality before the amplifier stage to get decent reception. They only work well if you're in a location where the signal strength is very high.

There are some general tips for using these indoor antenna/aerials such as getting close to a window. But if you live in a building constructed from the mid 80's onwards then there's a good chance it has foil-lined in-wall insulation which is great at blocking external TV and radio signals.

If you can get an external aerial put up then do that. Alternatively, can you tap in to someone elses external aerial feed? (With their permission, of course).

Nikkai freeview box was working fine until yesterday eve but then came up with no signal or bad signal. Tried re-tuning but doesn't make any difference.

This would definately sound life a signal problem. Freeview signals can vary quite alot in strength. But you should have it on a solid surface to protect it from heat

Have samsung dvd sh893m all though followed instructions from both dvd & sky manual cannot get signal from digi box ?

if you have followed the sky instructions and connected the aerial to the sky box first, don't. Always connect the aerial to the digital tuner first as the sky box and any other equipment will reduce the signal strength.

Most of the channels breaking up despite auto retuning

could be one of a few things,
low signal strength, aerial out of line with transmitter.
bad coax connections losing signal strength.
coax broken inside, or old and not low loss.
Get the aerial checked for direction, half a degree out of line over a few miles and you will lose a lot of signal strength, as will old coax (aerial cable) and if you are using an unshielded coax you could be losing signal strength through the cable itself. Replace the connecters and try to use a straight run of cable instead of having joins in it as these joins, even if using connecters, will cause a weak signal. If yiu are running more than one tv off your aerial, invest in a booster.

I have a DMR-EZ25EB and sometime after the freeview retune last year I realised I had not retuned. I retuned as per the instructions (and have done so several times since) but I have lost all my freeview...

This is not related to your aerial as you have good reception with your TV. Some receiving units (i.e your DVDr) need the channel memory to be cleared before the re-scan is done. Otherwise the scan gets corrupted.

To resolve this do the following;

1. Remove the aerial from the equipment and leave unplugged.
2. Go to the menu and select rescan or retune. It’ll take a few minutes, but when it’s done, it should say ‘'no channels found’.
3. Disconnect the equipment from the mains power supply and leave it un-plugged for 30secs.
4. Re-connect both the aerial and the mains power supply and switch the equipment back on.
5. Go to menu again and select rescan or retune. You should now have all the channels available to you.

I believe this should resolve the issue for you. If so please do take a moment to accept my solution otherwise it will not credit to my ledger.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Freeview box (Duraband)

Hi Sandra , it could be poor signal ,worth trying another box on your aerial , also the aerial lead could cause this even the one from the wall plate to the Freeview box ,if your analogue picture is snowy then I would suspect the aerial have you looked for a signal strength meter in the menu , might show how good the signal is
hope this helps
cheers John
