Audio becomes fuzzy and volume decreases, have to raise volume to max to produce some audio, changed out 3 capacitors on sound board, as previously suggested, played normally for about 50 hrs then problem returned. What if I swapped out 25v cap for 35v cap?

This is for an RCA L26WD26D TV/DVD combo- is swapping out the capacitors my only option other than swapping out the entire board? I don't see any other components that can be changed by my amateur skills.(see previous posts)Regards-Frank

Hi,
I think main board replacement will solve your sound problem and main board is available with Shop Jimmy for $162, click that link to see image of board and price info.
If you want to repair tv on component level as few capacitors have been replaced then I would recommend to resolder sound output chip pins that is mounted on big aluminum heat sink and surrounding parts as well because any lose/ dry soldering connection can be cause of low sound output.
Swapping 25V and 35V capacitors would also be helpful to fix the low sound issue.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Yes, apparently those capacitors are undersized. Measure the voltage on them then add 50% as a safety and buy them.

I don't think there's something else that is faulty there, so change them. But, as i said, measure the voltages and try to find out if all the part on the power source are ok.

Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. How to boost a mic in the sound input jack of the Bose Companion 3 Series 2? My voice definitely come through nice and clear, but it's very soft, even with the Bose and laptop volume on max.

Maybe an amp t be useful to increase volume

First try to find on board ssoftre on the PC to add some bass/midrange to it. If there is none you can look at finding something that can produce the effect I think. Thinking of somebody like Kendrick Lemar who changes his voice so much that I don't know what it
really sounds like.

If that does not workMaybe going through a hardware equaliser might do the trick

GOOD LUCK ... HOPE YOU FIND THE ANSWER

Whichever direction I turn the volume control knob (clock or anticlock wise), the volume always increases. I cannot turn the volume down

There's a endless volume knob who has contacts to inform if the volume increase or decrease.
It's normally produce noise and the circuit understand it like a data.
You can put a 1uF/50V capacitor in the each of 2 soldering points of the volume control to the ground (there has 3 points. One is ground and the others are live).

Volume automatically decreased to zero and won't go back up.

Plug the audio out to check it isn't the speaker itself failing. I suspect it is the audio circuit section of the board. But a few times I have experienced the speaker unit circuit where the magnet is caused the problem. So using an external speaker helps to determine speaker vs circuit

Thanks for using FIXYA

Volume when on tuner is very different than when on DTV

Under the input menu, there is a volume trim function which allow you to increase or decrease the volume level of each input. It is designed so that the volume of different components can be matched to prevent a blast of sound when changing to a lounder output. You can increase the alevel of the dtv input, and decrease the level of the tuner. Tuner volumes are usually high.

Bose Companion 5 Producing Unstable Sound

The intensive bass is making the speaker shake very much and that could have caused a short that changes the volume after a while when the speaker has been shaking for a period of time. You could try lowering the bass or volume to see if it makes a change in how long it takes to make the volume change.
