    Hi,

    Cause: Corrupted Inbox.dbx file.

Solution 1 : Backup and remove inbox.dbx, then import inbox from backup.

    Steps:

    1. Ensure OE6 is closed before starting.

    2. Create a folder c:\data and copy the entire contents of my "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{YOUR_IDENTITY_STRING}\Microsoft\Outlook Express" to c:\data

    3. Rename C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{YOUR_IDENTITY_STRING}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\inbox.dbx to inbox.dbx.old

    4. Start up OE6; it will create an empty Inbox and will show only one message "Welcome to Outlook Express 6".

    5. From the menu, open File->Import->Messages. Choose Outlook Express 6. Click Next.

    6. Choose Import mail from an OE6 Identity and select your identity (Mine was Main Identity). Click OK.

    7. Browse to the folder c:\data. Click Next.

    8. Choose Inbox. Click Next.

    9. Messages from your Inbox should appear in your new Inbox. Click Finished.

This will help.No need to buy a software.

You should be able to get the inbox messages.

Outlook Express losing inbox messages?

When you start Outlook Express, the contents of your Inbox folder may be missing. The contents may be replaced with a new first-run "Welcome to Microsoft Outlook Express" message. You do not receive a warning that the email messages have been deleted, and the missing email messages are not in the Deleted Items folder.

If it doesn't help, look at the answer here: http://www.filerepairforum.com/forum/microsoft/microsoft-aa/outlook-express/906-outlook-express-emails-disappeared-can-i-get-them-back

I have an EMail with 16 photos attached - it will not "go" nor can I delete it. How can I get rid of it?

Disconnect the network-cable from your computer, to block Internet access.

Start Outlook Express.
Instead of selecting the "Inbox" mail-folder,
select the "Outbox" folder.
Click once to select the E-mail message.
Use your mouse to "drag-and-drop" the message to your "Inbox" folder.
Close Outlook Express.
Reconnect the network-cable.
Open Outlook Express.
Check your "Inbox" for that "undeliverable" message.
Open the message, or delete the message.

Outlook express - inbox mail from the last 6 months disappeared

Do you mean that your inbox has many years of mails and only the 6 months mails went away somehow?

Start OE, click on Tools -> Options -> Maintenence. Then double click the Store Folder path and press Ctrl-C to copy it to clipboard.

Start -> Run then press Ctrl-V and press enter

Check there in case your mails were in different folders. In case there are any numbered files in this folder like inbox[1].dbx .... then we know that is the problem.

There are ways to get the data but first you need to identify.

Regards,
Deboo

Outlook express

dear fando,

This is usually down to a corrupt or over-full email inbox. Outlook Express is not very good at holding large amounts of emails especially if they have large attachments. I had a user this morning with a 2.5 GB inbox.

Backup/rename Inbox (C:\Documents and Settings\(User)\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{GIU}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\inbox.dbx -> inboxbak.dbx).
Close Outlook Express.
Open Outlook Express.
Outlook Express will have created a whole new Inbox.
Your email should now work.

Best wishes.
