1.Unplug the electrical cord of the Maytag electric dryer from the electrical outlet.
2.Open the dryer door and locate the four screws on the inside, unfastening the screws with a screwdriver.
3.Pull on the corners of the top front panel, rolling the corners forward to release the clips.
4.Tip the front panel straight out and slide it up until the panel comes loose of the clips.
5.Set the front panel aside and slide the top of the dryer forward.
6.Lift the top of the Maytag electric dryer up,tilting it back and resting it against the wall.

Instructions on how to replace belt on WF000 1000 spin washing machine

Changing the belt is easy. The reason for changing the belt is the question. If the belt keeps coming off on an aquaruis then it's usually a sign the bearings in the drum are shot. These things hardly ever need a new belt. That aside, I hope you have good reason to change the belt and there is the (Easy) way to do it.

Take the lid off. On this model I think you will fins a screw, hidden behind a little plastic prise-off cover, on either side of the lid about 2 inches back from the front of the machine.

Unscrew (Torque screws!!! but you MAY get away with a flat screwdriver that fits across the points of the star holes).

With the heel of your hand, strike the top front edge of the lid to make it slip baccwards about a half inch, this releases the clips that hold the back of the lid in place.

At the rear of the machine, at the bottom, there is an oval pannel about a foot wide and six inches deep held on by about 5 or 6 screws. Unscrew and remove the pannel. You can now see the drive spindle on the end of the motor.
Drop the new belt in from the top and hook over the drive spindle (you can see the position the old one was in on the slotted spindle because that portion of the spindle will be cleaner and shinier than the rest.
Now, holding part of the belt, guide it onto the main drum drive wheel (that huge wheel about 2 feet wide.
By turning the drum by hand slowly, you will be able to guide the belt onto the large wheel as you rotate the drum.

Having someone spin the drum by opening the door and turning it for you slowly may help

ALWAYS start with the belt on the motor spindle and guide onto the drum wheel, not the other way. You will never get it on if you start with it on the big wheel.

Unless you know the reason for swapping the belt, start worrying.... Occasionally these belts snap. Usually there is an underlying cause if they just "slip off"

How to remove the cover to retrieve the broken belt

I'm not exactly sure on your model...but most have two screws that hold the control panel to the top lid... one on the right and one on the left. If your model has a lint screen on top of the dryer they'll be some screws there also... Once the screws have been removed try sliding the top lid forward an inch to release the clips then lift...Again not sure if your model is the same. Once you have the top lid off just flip it up and then you'll need to remove the front panel..screws on left and right top...along with disconnecting plug for door switch... lift up on front panel and it should come right off...becarefull the drum will want to fall down when you move the front panel.....Replace the belt and reinstall everything in the reverse order...Good Luck

I have a 20-year-old model LLR9254BQ1 top-loading washer. It does not spinning in the spin cycle. I can manually turn the tub so it is not jammed. Is there a belt I can replace or is it time for a new...

I believe you may have listed your model number incorrectly. The closest matching number I could find is LLR9245BQ1. Double check your number to be sure. This model does not have a drive-belt. Whirlpool uses a motor coupling instead of a drive belt. This configuration is known as a direct-drive system.

No agitation or spin is commonly caused by either a lid switch malfunction or a broken motor coupling. The symptoms are slightly different, however. The following link explains how to diagnose your problem:

Read through the link provided and let me know if you have any questions. Please post back and let me know if your model number is different from the one I provided, so that I may be able to determine how your washer is configured. Either one of these repairs are simple and inexpensive and DO NOT require you to purchase a new washer.

FYI: These Whirlpool manufactured top loaders are some of the most reliable and easiest to work on appliances. Problems are usually minor when they do break, and don't cost much to repair. The lid switch averages about $30, while a motor coupling is about $15. The part number for the motor coupling is included in the link I provided. The lid switch for the model number I listed is 285671. Both parts COMBINED are $50 or less if you repair this yourself. That's still much cheaper than purchasing a new washer.

Read though the information I provided and pay particular attention to your symptoms. If you have questions, please let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Washer Won't Spin / Drain. Need New Belt or Pump? Need Diagram?

based on feedback that i received on the forum, i realized that the washer doesn't have a belt (it's a direct drive machine). then, i replaced the motor coupler, which was a lot easier than i thought when i posted this question.

detailed instructions can be found on an excellent post by jsrock516 on even though the washer is labeled 'kitchenaid,' look for whirlpool, top-load washer, tips. then, search for replacing a motor coupler.

jsrock516's instructions look complicated, but they're really just a very detailed, step-by-step guide written so you don't need any pictures. read through them before you start, and then follow each step as needed. great stuff.

Spin cycle stuck makes loud noise

If your model number is correct, this washer does not have a drive belt. It is a direct drive washer that uses a motor coupling. It sounds like your coupling is broken. The following link explains how to replace one:

The motor coupling is located between the drive motor and the transmission and takes the place of a drive belt. They do wear out and can break. The replacement part number is included in the link I provided and is an improved upgraded coupling that is more resilient. It should last longer. If you have questions, or require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

A replacement coupling can be purchased on line at for about $11. Just use the part number in the link and "Search by Part Number" for your search criteria.

Your problem sounds like a lid switch problem. The lidswitch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the righthand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim ofthe wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid,or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim)and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at, repairclinic.comor Just use your model number as your search criteria. All three sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all three for the best price. If you still need assistance, please contact me and let me know. If my diagnosis is not correct, please post back and elaborate a bit more so I can assist you further. If your washer is not configured this way, or if you still have questions, please let me know.

I used a Sta Rite, Dura Glass lid o-ring (~$10, any swimming pool supply store). I don't know how long it will work, but it works.
