When my Amana washer is not in use, it drips water into the tub all the time. Could this be a mixing valve problem?

Hello,

Yep, it sounds like your water valves are leaking. By turning either the hot or cold off at the faucet itself, you should be able to identify which one is the culprit. Then you might be able to replace only that one valve, if they are separate units (most are not).

You also might try soaking the valve in CLR or vinegar, but only the portion that normally has water exposted to it (not the wiring or the coils). It will not be a permanent fix, but it will help stop the leak until you can get a replacement ordered.

Water dripping into the tub when washer is not in use

You are right, it is called the water inlet valve assembly. I will attach a photo for reference. You can try to clean the small metal screens inside the opening on the valve, but the problem is most likely in the solenoids. They can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter and checking for continuity. A lack of continuity means a bad solenoid and the water inlet valve will need replaced. Sorry for your trouble and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

The washer slowly becomes fills with water when not in use

Hello. I can assist you..

check these:

Water-inlet valve
Water-level switch
Water-inlet valve A defect in the water-inlet valve may mean that it's no longer able to shut off completely when the electricity has been turned off to it. If this occurs, the valve may leak and drip water into the clothes tub. In time, the water may accumulate substantially. If this happens, you need to replace the valve.

Water-level switch A defect--or an obstruction--in the water-level switch may mean that it can't tell the water to shut off. So the machine overflows. This switch senses the water level in the clothes tub. It's usually a diaphragm device with a small, clear tube attached between the switch and the bottom of the washer's outer tub. As the water level in the tub increases, the pressure on the air in the tube increases. When the pressure reaches a certain level, it activates the switch, shuts off the water, and signals the timer to begin the agitate cycle. You can either clear any obstruction in the tube or replace the water-level switch.

Water drip

There is a water fill valve that allows water in, mixes cold and hot water or shuts it off. Its location is where the hot and cold water hoses connect to the washer.
Get the model number off the machine and go to the web site below and you can see the valve and also the cost of the valve should you choose to fix it.

Good luck, let me know.

Flooding and overfilling

Hi

If your washer is overfilling, check these:

Please accept the solution and revert for any further assistance.

Thanks

Water in my washing machine

it sounds like you have a leaking water valve, you will have to replace the mixing valve, For now turn the water off at the wall suppling water to the machine. When you want to use the washer turn on water, when its done with the cycle turn the water off.

Note: unplugging the machine will not stop the water from running

AMANA WASHER WILL LEAKS WATER IN TUB AFTER SPIN CYCLE.

Cylon, sounds like you need to replace the water inlet valve. It's not seating and weeping water. For series 10 the part number would be 40097701. Not that hard of a job. Catriver..post back.
