Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Freezer working but not fridge

All cold air in fridge comes from the freezer behind the back wall. I'd first check to see if the fan is running and trying to circulate air to the fridge side. If it isn't then you'll need to replace evaporate fan. Fan is located in freezer behind back wall.

Note: If you have a bunch of snowy frosty ice buildup on the back wall in the freezer then you have a defrost issue and you should hire a professional.

Hi, my Jenn-Air #JF12089AEPO bottom freezer drawer is beeping consistently and the temperature reading shows 18 degrees Freezer Max Temp. There is also a dry frosty crust on most of my frozen foods. How...

Make sure the freezer drawer and the refrigerator door are shutting properly. Sounds like air is getting in causing the frosty crust. Also be sure to reset the controls back to the original mid-way settings and allow a day or so for it to balance, if you have turned the fresh food compartment down to a lower temp it may cause a similar condition.

Refridgerator side is not cooling and freezer is wroking fine

1st i must get you to look for some symptoms look on back wall (inside) of freezer. Is there "sno-cone" type frost? yes? defrost problem. heater, defrost thermostat or defrost timer or adaptive defrost control. no? is fan running? is evaporator coil cold ,frosty? no fan but cold frosty coil(that's frosty but not frosted up) then bad fan motor probably. you need volt meter, and know how to use it. otherwise call a tek.

My food in my freezer is getting fuzzy with frost, why??

if thers warm air leaking into the freezer this will happen, but if the rear inside wall of the freezers covered with a icy/frosty covering too, this indicates a defrost problem, remove rear wall inside panel in freezer and defrost with a handheld hair dryer, then test the defrost heater and thermostats both located on the evaporator coil thats frosted over, its most likely one of these or possibly the defrost A.D.C. control

The problem is with my magic chef top/bottom fridge/freezer. the freezer is working fine, but the refrigerator is freezing its contents.

Either defrost problem or clogged drain... Is there snowy frosty ice on back wall in fridge? If so, hire a professional. If not - you can take back wall off in the freezer and defrost the drain.

Refrigerator not cooling, freezer is working

check the vent from the fridge to the freezer. is any air blowing through it? if not, check the back wall of the freezer for frost. if it's frosty, you have an iced up evaporator coil. either the fan is not blowing or the door seals are bad.

Ice under the bottom draw in freezer. Melts some

Close, it is in the freezer.
It is your defrost drain. that ice was actually ice originally, just from your evaporator. the defrost heater comes on when the evap. gets frosty white, it melts, and then is supposed to go down your drain. if it is clogged, it will build up, and just freeze because it is around zero in there. my advice, take off the back wall of the freezer, look for the drain under the aluminum coils that is toward the back wall. get your moms hair dryer and go at it

My freezer is frosting...there is snow all over

In my case with constant snow and frost build-up in my bottom drawer GE freezer, it was because the drawer never properly closed. As one user noted, "there is no adjustment." However, there are "catches" at the rear of the drawer glides and in my case one needed adjustment because it was preventing the drawer from remaining closed tightly. SEE PHOTOS. The photos show many items removed, but to make this repair, you only need a butter knife to pop out the black plastic catch mechanisms at the back end of the drawer glides, and only if you can see that the spring is not properly positioned. Bottom freezer door/drawer won't close all the way on one side.

Remove all the food from the freezer and then the drawer from the cabinet. Now using a silicone based lubricant, lube the tracks up real well. Be sure to clean the tracks first if gunked up. Make sure nothing small fell out of the basket over time and is laying on the floor in the rear of the freezer section. Once done, you should be fine.
